Castle Combe Autumn Classic Set For This Weekend

Tuesday 03 October 2017

The Vintage Sports-Car Club are once again delighted to be invited to the popular Castle Combe Autumn Classic, having been involved since the first event in 2012.
The Autumn Classic, which has been nicknamed the ‘Mini Revival of the South West’, is taking place on Saturday 7th October. The event will include an Owner Driver Mechanic Race for all Pre-war Sports-Cars – a popular and eclectic addition to an exciting day, which promises to enthral all both Pre-war and Classic car enthusiasts.

During this year’s Race you can expect to see some popular historic car marques such as Frazer Nash, Morgan, Alvis, Lagonda, Talbot, MG, Invicta, Riley, Wolseley, Aston Martin, and Alfa Romeo, all dating from 1926 to 1939.

Once again, Patrick Blakeney-Edwards will make a return to the circuit, but this time in his Frazer Nash Super Sports instead of his triumphant Frazer Nash Saloon Owlet which placed him at the podium last year. Competing against Blakeney-Edwards are regular VSCC Race competitors Sue Darbyshire, Jo Blakeney-Edwards, Simon Edwards, John Polson, and stalwart John Guyatt, amongst others.

This race sees the culmination of an exceptional year for our Owner Driver Mechanic Awards, who have supported the 5 main VSCC Race Meetings in addition to a trip to Zandvoort for their British Festival and the Castle Combe Autumn Classic. As in recent years the VSCC would like to thank both John Guyatt and Lesley Macalpine for their tireless work in looking after this important group of racers.

Not only will the Autumn Classic offer a variety of Classic and Vintage car races for spectators to enjoy, there will be plenty of family-friendly off-track entertainment, a Trade Village, and numerous Classic Car Club Displays, Parades, and Demonstrations.

Although entries have now closed for the Owner Driver Mechanic Race at the Autumn Classic, we are still accepting additional entries for the Call-Up List which will be used prior to the event, should any accepted drivers be unable to take part.
