Vintage Sports-Car Club Silverstone ‘Spring Start’ 2014 Date Announced

Tuesday 17 December 2013

The Vintage Sports-Car Club is delighted to announce the date of the prestigious Silverstone ‘Spring Start’ Meeting in 2014. The event will once again be the ‘curtain-raiser’ to the Vintage and Historic Race Season over the weekend of 12-13 April, a continuation of the successful two-day format from 2013.
A staple of the Vintage and Historic Racing calendar since 1967, Race Series Organisers and Clubs from the UK and Europe have been clamouring to be a part of one of the most popular line-ups of the year. With full grids of some of the world’s rarest machines anticipated, the weekend is shaping up to be a highlight for both competitor and spectator.

The Club’s own GP Itala Trophy Race will take centre stage on the Saturday, named in honour of the famed Grand Prix Car of the early 1900s. Alongside this, there will also be VSCC races for Vintage Racing Cars, Post-war Historic Racing Cars, 1950s Sports Racing Cars and Pre-war Sports-Cars.

Few marques have shared such a close affiliation with the Vintage Sports-Car Club through the years as ERA who, like the VSCC, also celebrate their 80th Anniversary in 2014. To mark the occasion, there will be a dedicated race for ERAs, 10 years since the last such event at Donington Park. It is hoped to attract a full grid of the revered Voiturettes and associated derivatives from all over the world to compete in this special race.

Complementing our own grids, we are also delighted to welcome races from the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association, who also host their annual Test Day on the preceding Friday, the Formula Junior Historic Racing Association and the 500 Owners Association. The full programme, including details of further invited grids over the course of the weekend will be confirmed in the New Year.
