VSCC 80th Anniversary Week in Peterborough is almost here!

Wednesday 30 July 2014

After months of planning, the Club’s 80th Anniversary week of celebrations  are upon us, starting this Monday straight after the Prescott weekend, based at the East of England Showground, Peterborough from 4th to 9th August.
The busy week of tours, driving tests, evening socials and more will culminate with A Vintage Day Out on Saturday 9 August, a grand Public Open Day taking place at the East of England Showground.

Visitors will be able to take in an extensive array of Pre-1960 vehicles which will be displayed throughout the venue, including special 'Anniversary-themed' features celebrating 80 Years of the Association of Frazer Nash / BMW, 80 years of the ERA and 60 Years of the Riley Register. Other attractions include a commemorative area dedicated to The Great War, tethered hot-air balloon flights, an extensive Trade Village and for those with children there will be lots of Fun and Games.

And introducing ...The Rolls-Royce Merlin-Engined Spitfire

The Merlin was the most produced Rolls-Royce engine of all time, powering the Spitfire along with other fighters and bombers. In action at A Vintage Day Out, we mark the 81st anniversary of the first run of the most produced Rolls-Royce engine type of all time – the Merlin. Don’t miss your chance to see the Rolls-Royce sponsored Spitfire take to the skies above the Showground (approx. 1200-1.00pm).

Entry is just £5 per adult and free to all Under 16’s. Entry is Free of Charge for all VSCC Members or any person displaying a Pre-1960 Car as part of an official display. Tickets are not being sold in advance, simply pay on the day of the event at the gate!
