Snetterton to host the VSCC 2014 Race Season Finale this weekend

Friday 26 September 2014

The Vintage Sports-Car Club will herald the end to another stellar Race Season this Sunday 28 September with the prestigious Seaman Memorial Trophies Meeting at Snetterton.
Celebrating our remarkable 80th Anniversary year in 2014, this weekend’s event at the popular Norfolk venue marks the fifth and final round of a jam-packed campaign, following visits to Silverstone, Cadwell Park, Pembrey and Donington Park, interspersed amongst a packed schedule of Sprints, Hill Climbs, Rallies, Trials, Driving Tests and more.

As ever, the day boasts the usual eclectic and quality line-up of Vintage, PVT and Historic Racing and Sports-Cars associated with the VSCC with a number of the Club’s most celebrated trophies to be won.

The title feature, the Historic Seaman & Flockhart Trophies Race for Pre-1961 Racing Cars, will see Lotus pilot Philip Walker aim to continue his dominance in the Post-war class whilst Nick Topliss will hope to sign-off a fantastic season in the ex-Bob Gerard ERA R4A with a Trophy victory. Meanwhile, Will Mahany sets his sight on an incredible tenth consecutive Spero Trophy in the historic event for small capacity Vintage and PVT racers. The day will also see a culmination of this year’s Owner-Driver-Mechanic competition with the Standard & Modified Pre-war Sports-Cars of our celebrated ‘Set 3’ boasting a grid of over 30 exquisite examples.

In addition to the Club’s other traditional scratch and handicap elements for Pre-war Racing and Sports-Cars, we look forward to another mouth-watering grid of genuine Pre-war Grand Prix and Voiturette racers, again supported by premier Pre-war Maserati experts, Sean Danaher Restorations, and an invited race for 1950s Sports Racing Cars.

With a number of raised, grassed viewing banks located around the track, Snetterton boasts some of the best spectator viewing of all UK Motorsport venues. From the outside of the circuit, the ‘Montreal’ hairpin or ‘Bomb Hole’ turn provide great vantage points whilst both inside and outside of the famous ‘Murray’s’ bend and  also ‘Senna Straight’ provide perfect opportunity to see our competitors in their element. The ‘Bomb Hole’ and ‘Murray’s’ Grandstands are open and roving seats are available to purchase on the day.

Our MSV hosts again promise a wonderful nostalgic atmosphere with appropriate ‘period’ entertainment for all the family to compliment the day’s on-track activities, including Jazz Band, Car Club Displays and a Cream Tea Tent.

Tickets are available on the day at £17 per person (Children Under 13 go free). Qualifying Practice begins at 9.30am with Racing commencing at 1.00pm.

Snetterton is 10 miles north-east of Thetford on the A11 from London to Norwich. Coming from the south, leave the M11 at junction 9 and follow the A11. From the north or west, use the M11/A11 and join the A11 after Newmarket.
