Member’s Car Surprise Restoration to feature on ‘Cars SOS’ TV Programme

Friday 22 March 2013

VSCC member,  Graham Wadeson of Suffolk, had the surprise of his life recently when his 1928 12/4 Austin Clifton Tourer was restored without his knowledge.
Unfortunately various circumstances, especially his wife Valerie having a stroke 12½ years ago, meant that Gusty, as she is called, had been mothballed in her garage, and future use of her was very uncertain.
Graham was recently asked to go to the Tide Mill in Woodbridge, where he lives, to join some other traditional boat enthusiasts (his other love) to record on film some memories of past sailing in such boats. When he got there he was ‘gotchered’ as it just a front to suddenly reveal ‘Gusty’, who had been spirited away from her garage, with the connivance of his son, for a TV company to restore and return to him, ready to drive away in!
The story of all this will form the basis of a one hour TV programme  on the National Geographic channel to be broadcast on Thursday 28 March at 8 pm.  The National  Geographic channel can be found on Sky or Virgin as part of a 10 programmes series, called ‘Cars SOS’.
