2017 VSCC Speed Championship Coming Soon!

As we look forward to the start of our Formula Vintage Race season at Silverstone this weekend, don’t forget that the start of the VSCC Speed Championship is also just around the corner, with a capacity entry for our traditional Curborough Speed Trials on Sunday 30 April.
This is followed soon after by two of the Club’s much-loved Hill Climb events in the month of May – Wiscombe Park (Sunday 7 May) and Loton Park (27/28 May).The two Hill Climbs are firm favourites amongst Competitors and will count towards this year’s Speed Championship standings but hurry as entries for both events close soon – don’t miss out and submit your entries now!
Curborough Speed Trials & Club Picnic – Sunday 30 April

We herald the start of another VSCC Speed season with our Curborough Speed Trials on May Bank Holiday weekend, which will again host the opening round of the Club’s MSA-registered Speed Championship. Entries are now closed and the event will again host another capacity entry of real quality, proving its continuing popularity amongst our Competitors as a relaxed day of Club motorsport.
Located in South Staffordshire near Lichfield, Curborough always attracts a superb line-up of over one hundred Pre-war Racing and Sports-Cars, with all the celebrated marques of the era accounted for, including Alvis, Austin, Bentley, Bugatti, ERA, MG, Riley and more, which you are free to explore with open access to the Paddock. Aside from the action on track, many Spectators arrive in Pre-war cars so a wander around the car park is a relaxing way to while away the day whilst we also encourage everyone to bring their picnics as is the annual tradition.

Wiscombe Park Hill Climb – Sunday 7 May
Nr Honiton, Devon EX24 6JE
Be sure to join us in the grounds of Wiscombe House in the beautiful Devonshire countryside for our longtime Hill Climb season curtain-raiser.
The idyllic venue provides a fantastic challenge for Competitors in Pre-war machinery. Following a brief downhill descent over the bridge into the deceptive uphill left hand Wis Corner, the course continues uphill through open parkland until The Gate, where cars disappear into woodland, through the Esses to the finish, via a couple of tricky hairpins.
The event is open to all eligible VSCC Competitors with the Club’s full class structure on offer, accommodating Edwardian, Vintage and PVT Racing and Sports-Cars, with all eligible entrants automatically registered for the 2017 Speed Championship.
We are also likely to see a number of F3 (500) Racing Cars and 1950s Sports/Racing Cars join our Invited Post-war classes since, as in previous years, our friends at the 500 Owners Association will be holding their own meeting the day before. Again, VSCC members are invited to enter their Pre-war classes so why not make a weekend of your visit to the South-West? Visit www.500race.org for more information.
The venue’s excellent viewing locations alongside the track make it an ideal day out for Spectators too with catering available on site, whilst you can enjoy free access to the Competitor Paddock and get up close with the drivers and their cars.

Loton Park Hill Climb - 27/28 May
Nr Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Our ever-popular Loton Park Hill Climb moves from its traditional September date to May for 2017, so with no clash with the Goodwood Revival this year, there’s no excuse to miss this fantastic weekend round of the Club’s Speed Championship at one of the UK’s best Hill Climb venues.
Set within the confines of the Loton Park Estate’s picturesque deer park, the 1475 yards course is a great test for car and machine, and will follow our standard two-day Speed event format, with Competitors getting two Practice Runs on Saturday and two Timed Runs towards the competition on Sunday.
Again the Club’s full Pre-war class structure is available, as well as additional Invited Post-war classes for Pre-1961 Racing cars (including F3 500) and 1950s Sports/Racing cars.
The highlight for many is Saturday evening’s traditional Hog Roast organised by our loyal band of local members. With plenty of ale and on-site camping available, the event is truly one of the most social on the calendar, so come and join us for a wonderful weekend in Shropshire next month.
Loton Park is blessed with idyllic surroundings and fantastic vantage points all the way up the course. As the tarmac winds its way through the Deer park, there are benches alongside the upper half of the course from ‘Triangle’ corner upwards. Do wander up to the top and see the cars hurtling through ‘Fallow’ and ‘Museum’ – the walk is not too onerous and is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful setting.
