VSCC Prescott Vintage Speed Hill Climb - Advance Spectator Ticket Sales Close Soon!

Tuesday 25 July 2017

Only one week left to buy your Advance Spectator Tickets for the undoubted ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Vintage motorsport year – the Club’s historic Prescott Vintage Speed Hill Climb, first held in 1938, taking place on 5/6 August.
Over 250 of the finest Pre-war Racing and Sports-Cars will be in action over the weekend at the famous venue near Winchcombe, many having travelled from all over the world to compete, with representatives from evocative marques of this special era of motoring, including Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Aston Martin, Frazer Nash, ERA and more.

The much-loved Prescott Speed Hill Climb two-day event will see a guaranteed capacity entry take part in Practice Runs on Saturday before the all-important Timed Runs towards the main competition on Sunday, all on the original 880-yard ‘short course’ first founded by Tom Rolt and other Members of the Club in the 1930s.

Entries for the event close this coming Monday 24 July; if you have not yet entered, do not delay – in line with this year’s Club policy, the first 80% of entries have been accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, with the remaining places to be filled in line with the standard selection criteria (no entries will be accepted after the closing date).

Download Supplementary Regulations and an Entry Form or enter online from the event page (CLICK HERE) – remember you will need to know the Buff Form number of the car you wish to enter and have a current payment card registered with the Club to use the online entry facility.

Please Note: Entries are now open for our Prescott ‘Long Course’ Hill Climb event, which takes place on Saturday 23 September (not the Friday of our August weekend as in previous years) – CLICK HERE for more information, including Advance Spectator Tickets.

As well as the thrilling action on track there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy. Spectators are free to explore the Competitor Paddock, where they can get up close to the racing cars and drivers, whilst the annual gathering of Spectator Pre-war Cars in the Orchard is always worth the entry price alone.

Renowned International Auction House and Club Principal Associates, Bonhams, will also provide another impressive display of cars from their upcoming sales, alongside an eclectic array of modern vehicles from Course Car providers, Porsche Tewkesbury, whilst we welcome official Club Charity, the Midlands Air Ambulance to the weekend, who will be working hard to collect for their worthy cause.

The Bugatti Trust will be open for free to all visitors throughout the weekend, with drawing workshops with Stefan Marjoram and robotics demonstrations scheduled alongside their usual exhibitis.

Our fine Trade Village and ‘Autojumble’ will surely offer something to suit all interests, whilst the Children’s Entertainment Area, including an array of ‘giant-size’ games and Sweet Stall, ensures there will be plenty to keep our younger enthusiasts occupied. With the traditional Sunday Morning Bicycle Races (see below) and Eureka Jazz Band parade up the Hill during the Lunch Break and plenty of catering facilities available on site throughout the weekend, the event is the ideal family day out!

BICYCLE RACES & 6th ANNUAL PEDAL-CAR GRAND PRIX
(SUNDAY 6 AUGUST)

The highlight of the year for so many of the Club’s younger (and older!) Members, Sunday’s activities at VSCC Prescott get underway with the traditional and ever-popular Bicycle Races supported by long-time Club Member, Simon Diffey of Merry Printers.

These will take place at approximately 9.00am, with the usual races for Under 10s, Under 16s and an All-Comers event (depending on demand), and don’t forget the Children’s Pedal Car Grand Prix (for Children Under 16) which is strictly restricted to pedal power only (no motorised or battery powered cars).  Weird and wonderful cycling machinery is encouraged and there will be the usual prizes for this year’s race winners, as well as special edition T-Shirts provided by Tom Hardman Ltd, and sweets/drinks for all participants.

If you would like to take part, assemble from 8.00am with any type of bicycle (or pedal car) in the Paddock for Signing-on and ‘Scrutineering’ (don’t forget to bring a helmet and a parent/guardian for any Under 18s).

If you do not have a bicycle with you, do come along early to watch; you are sure to see some wonderful machinery, from Penny Farthings to tandems to unicycles!

Please support the Bike Races this year! They are great fun and you can have fun practising before the event in the campsite, but please, no bicycles in the Paddock or on the Hill Climb course other than before assembling for Sunday’s races.

DON’T FORGET: ALL BICYCLE RACE ENTRANTS MUST WEAR A HELMET PLEASE

All other cars are to park in the nominated Public event car parks at Ettore’s and in the adjacent field courtesy of Pardon Hill Farm.

All Car Parking will be free of charge (NB Event Programmes will be available to buy separately).

CAMPING AT PRESCOTT
The traditional Camping will be available for both Members and Non-Members in the three fields directly across from the Prescott main site courtesy of Pardon Hill Farm. There will also be new shower facilities available over the weekend this year, located at the bottom of the Orchard.

There is a set fee of £18 per pitch for the weekend. Please note that there is no advance booking for Camping* and tickets should be bought on day of arrival from the VSCC Club Display in the Paddock. These must be on display at all times and failure to do so may result in further charges or removal from the campsite.

*Marshals on duty over the weekend can book free camping in advance through the VSCC Office (please pre-book via the Ticket Hotline on 01608 644999, quoting ‘Marshals Camping’).

Please note that the VSCC has a contract with Pardon Hill Farm this year from Friday 4 August through to Monday 7 August for camping Friday night to Sunday night.  No camping on Pardon Hill Farm land is permitted outside of these dates and anyone doing so will be committing trespass and will also not be covered by the Club insurance and so may be removed from the area and not permitted access in the future.

We ask that those who wish to camp respect the privacy of the local residents and observe the campsite rules and in particular please do not leave rubbish behind or empty portaloos in the field before departing as this is a working farm with livestock.
