LOTON PARK, ALBERBURY, NR SHREWSBURY, SHROPSHIRE, SY5 9AJ

LotonAdvert

Loton Park Hill Climb is the perfect Club event; returning to the traditional Autumn date the event has all the attributes of a beautiful location, exciting competition and a unique atmosphere. The local organising team are hard at work again to make the experience even better than before with a very sociable Saturday evening planned.

Typically the competing cars have been built between 1906 and 1939, although there is a special class for Pre 1961 invited racing cars.  Some of the cars are presented in standard form, whilst others are specials and racing cars constructed specifically for speed events.  This year saloon cars are able to enter for the first time, so don’t miss the likes of Ben Collings’s 3 litre Bentley saloon in competition.

You can expect the faster cars to return times of a little over a minute to complete the course; the cars are old but they are most certainly not slow!

Parking is available at the venue, there will be a special area for those arriving in Pre-war cars.  There are autojumble and trade stands.  The course is 1,465 yards long with an average gradient of 1 in 25 and at its steepest is 1 in 7.  It follows a circuitous route through the deer park and spectators on both days will be able to enjoy the competition from various vantage point.

EVENT TIMINGS

Practice commences on Saturday 26 September, Sunday 27 September is the main day where competitiors will run in order completing two runs against the clock.  On both days the first runs get underway at 10.00am until late afternoon (approximatley 4.30 / 5.00pm).
