One
of the
more established social events of the VSCC calendar, the annual Norfolk
Tour is
much-loved for its relaxed atmosphere and picturesque routes through
rural East
Anglia
via a wealth
of fascinating historic and industrial venues of the region. In the
past, these
have included a whisky distillery, vineyard, cider farm, castles,
churches,
mills, museums and much more.
This
year’s Tour
will
have as its theme,
"Rivers and Railways". Prior to the Beeching cuts, Norfolk had a charming
and extensive rural
railway network, complimenting the county's high concentration of minor
roads.
Many rivers, such as the Yare and the Glaven also
meander their way
across the countryside.
The 2010 Tour
will again start and finish at the Forncett Industrial Steam Museum and take in the
newly re-opened
Whitwell Station, along with Holt Station en-route. All three of these
venues
will be active and in-steam, with rides to Sheringham or Weybourne
possible
from the latter.
An innovation
this year is an entirely optional shortened
route for those with low-powered vehicles. The event is open
to all
Pre-war cars (Buff Form is not
required).
Closing deadline
is Monday 19 July so submit your entry now.
