Help for
Heroes has been confirmed as the official charity of the 2010 Vintage
Sports-Car Club Prescott Speed Hill Climb event which will take place
over the
weekend of 7-8 August in Gloucestershire.
Help for
Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry OBE out of a desire to help
wounded
members of the Armed Forces coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq. The
charity supports
the wounded by focusing on raising funds for the most needed areas both
directly and through its support of other service charities.
Bryn
Parry, is CEO of Help for Heroes, and said “H4H
is all about ‘doing your bit’ and this
event is a great example of people having fun while money is raised for
a
wonderful cause. We
have been able to
use money raised to provide practical and direct support to those
wounded in
the current conflicts. The money raised is needed, it is being used and
it is
hugely appreciated; sadly, we need a great deal more.
You are part of something that is very
British and wonderful, and I would like to say thank you to you for
this, and
every other fund raising event that it inspires”.
All
the money raised will be spent by Help for Heroes
to transform the lives of wounded service personnel through projects
such as
the Headley Court Rehab complex, supported by H4H with fundraising of
£8
million, which was opened by HRH Prince William in early June. Further Rehab Centres are
planned for Colchester,
Catterick and Tidworth, costing a further £20 million.
HELP
for HEROES Volunteers will be walking around Prescott
with H4H buckets
collecting donations
and they will also have a trade stand selling Help for Heroes
Merchandise including
T-shirts, Polo Shirts, Hero Bears, Dog collars/leads, and lots of
badges
representing all four services.
