Light Car and Edwardian

"We are often asked what is a light car.  Like the female hippopotamus who was asked how to distinguish a male   hippopotamus the answer was that one knows one when one sees one.  In cases of doubt it should be, an unmodified vintage light car claiming less than 30 b.h.p. and not exceeding 1500cc both as advertised at birth.  Edwardians at our events are not expected to take advantage of the Club modern tyre derogations. In both classes the overriding criterion is that the vehicle's performance is unlikely to give its owner much satisfaction in main club events.  We make an exception to this in the case of cyclecars because we all like to watch them being mended and Trojans why they win main club trials is not generally understood.  Any owner exceeding Management's expectation of his car's performance is expected to marshal next year"   Arthur Jeddere-Fisher.  President Emeritus.

Membership of the Light Car & Edwardian Section of the VSCC is open to all VSCC members, whether you own a Section car or not.  Annual membership is just £2.50 per annum, for which you will receive the Section Magazines, become an official Lightcarist/Lightcariste and can come and play in the Section events

The Welsh Weekend

The largest social event in the VSCC calendar, based around Llandrindod Wells in mid-Wales on the last complete weekend ending in March and not clashing with Easter.  The format is a tour with optional routes extending up to 100 miles on the Saturday followed by evening dinner for over 250, and a light ½ day trial suitable for our cars and those that wake up in time on the Sunday Morning.

The Summer Weekend

On the third weekend with a Sunday in June, usually some family-friendly activity such as a Gymkhana, an evening BBQ, and camping available on the Saturday, followed on the Sunday with a choice of a Tour or Navigation rally with mileages and speeds that work for Light cars and Edwardians, and sometimes even for the cyclecars too!  All designed to be a gentle introduction for the young or beginners, but with a challenge for the keen.

The Autumn Weekend

On the third weekend with a Sunday in September. An Autosolo on the Saturday, with a nice tour and lunch, and perhaps a few light hearted driving tests thrown in on the Sunday - Oh yes, and the infamous AGM that is limited to a maximum of five minutes.

25 - 26 March Welsh Weekend - Llandrindod Wells, Powys
17 - 18 June   Summer Weekend (including the Summer Rally) -TBA
16 - 17 September Autumn Weekend - Snetteron, Norfolk
