Marshalling Trophies
Each year, the VSCC award named trophies to our most active and dedicated volunteers. Marshals accrue points each time they ‘sign on’ at a VSCC event and those with the highest aggregate totals at season’s end are rewarded. The trophies are divided into speed and non-speed event categories. Additional awards are given for specific outstanding achievements and to the Club’s best young marshal each year, each detailed in the descriptions given below. These trophies are presented each year at the Club’s Marshals’ Dinner, to which those volunteers who have attended the most events in the past season are invited.
DAVID PAYNE MEMORIAL TROPHY
Awarded to the person with the highest annual score accumulated for race and speed marshalling at Club events. Marshaling at a race meeting scores 20 points, at a hill climb 15 points and at a sprint 15 points. Marshaling at The Pomeroy Trophy scores 25 points and attendance at the Marshals' Training Day also scores 25 points.
DON GROSE TROPHY
Awarded to the person with the highest annual score accumulated for marshalling at trials, rallies and driving tests. Most events score 20 points but there are variations which are published in the Club newsletter for each season of competition.
De NEVERS HUNT TROPHY
Awarded by selection at the Club office, maybe on recommendation from outside the office, for good work as a marshal.
JOHNNY HOLMES TROPHY
Awarded, by selection at the Club office, maybe on recommendation from outside the office, for good work in support of the Club’s sporting activities.
DAN ENGLAND AWARD
The Club’s young marshal award. The recipient must be under 23 years old on 1 January of the year in question but need not be a member of the VSCC. The award is presented (not necessarily annually) at the Marshals' Dinner following judging by an award committee who may consider nominations for anyone and will consider regularity in marshalling, responsibility shown in conduct, tenacity and dedication.
