The VSCC Oulton Park AutoSolo, Cheshire Life Concours and the Suffolk Tour

Tuesday 22 May 2018

The VSCC saw a packed weekend of motorsport with a Race Meeting, AutoSolo, the Cheshire Life Concours, and and Suffolk Tour all taking place across 19 and 20 May.
AutoSolo
The 2018 Oulton Park AutoSolo was abundant with entries thanks to Martin Jelley and his fantastic team who set out a great selection of tests which included a mix of tight tests and longer flowing tests.

The Vintage Sports-Car Club welcomed three exciting Entrants making their competitive debuts with the Club. This included Harriet Turley who, along with her family, has been Marshalling at the Club for many years. Robert Lees was looking to continue his winning success from his debut at the Silverstone AutoSolo in his 1935 Riley.

We also welcomed Hill Climb stalwart James Baxter to Oulton Park in his 1933 Frazer Nash, who went on to take the honours in the Long Wheelbase Class. After some phenomenal driving Jon Fleming won the Short Wheelbase Class in his 1928 Austin Seven.

Cheshire Life Concours
With a fabulous varied entry of cars assembled by the Fogarty Moss Centre overlooking Cascades, the judges were working on a tight time frame before the Parade lap round the International Circuit.

After plenty of deliberation and careful discussion the winner was announced. Congratulations to Jack Read in his 1935 Lagonda Rapier, which was restored by Jack to show the winning condition with the rewiring being finished the night before. Jack was delighted to be awarded with the Cheshire Life Concours and the  After Car Kit.

The entrants had a fabulous morning of Touring before heading to the halfway point where they were able to sit back and enjoy a delicious picnic in a glorious location. Upon their return to Pakenham Water Mill a sumptuous afternoon tea was provided rounding off a fantastic Tour.

Formula Vintage Festival - Donington Park
The inaugural Formula Vintage Festival will take place at the legendary Donington Park on 24 June after the Club’s absence of four years, in celebration of the Club’s first stand-alone Race Meeting at Donington Park on 23 April 1938. Eleven thrilling Races will feature at Donington Park including the traditional spectacle of VSCC Vintage machinery, and guest grids from the MMM MG Register, FISCAR, and the Morgan Three Wheelers. The Festival will see a variety of marques take to the circuit, including Austin 7s, ERA's, Bugatti's, and a number of Frazer Nashes.

In addition to the track entertainment, the Club will be hosting a number of off-track activities for all ages, including a Classic and Vintage Park & Parade where Members can take to the track in their beautiful cars for a parade lap of the circuit, the third AutoSolo of the year where you can see skilled drivers compete against the clock in a challenging course, plus entertainment and activities to keep the whole family busy all day.
