1938 Prescott Champion Returns This Weekend

Monday 30 July 2018

Meet the Freikaiserwagen.
Built in 1936, this historic vehicle first appeared on 4th August at the Bristol Motor Club’s Backwell Hill Climb, driven by Hugh Dunsterville, where considerable damage was incurred on the first of its timed runs. David Fry, the Freikaiserwagen owner at the time,  rebuilt the machine and competed at several events in 1937 before taking the Fastest Time of the Day at the very first Vintage Sports-Car Club Prescott Hill Climb in 1938.

After 80 years the Freikaiserwagen is set to return to Prescott this weekend following an impressive eight-year rebuild by Steve Lister and Mike Sythes. Keep an eye out for car number 284 on the Hill this weekend to witness this historic machine celebrate 82 years since it's first competitive run, and 80 years since its first Fastest Time of the Day at Prescott.
