David Payne Memorial Trophy Winner

Monday 21 January 2019

The DAVID PAYNE MEMORIAL TROPHY is awarded to the person
with the highest annual score accumulated for Race and Speed
marshalling at Club events.

It is the wish of the Payne family that this trophy may be won only once
by any Marshal. The marshalling points have been standardized so that
each event now scores 25 points.

As this trophy can only be won once by any one individual we would like to start proceedings by acknowledging our third place award winners of Eric Stenson and John Williams for joint third place overall with 350 points.

In joint second place with 375 points each are Martin Pollard and Anne Beckett.

In joint first place overall with an impressive 450 points, and so the outright highest point scorers for 2018, are Jim Wood and Karen Morton.

This year’s winner of the DAVID PAYNE MEMORIAL TROPHY joined the Club in 1995 and has marshalled for the VSCC for several decades. Nowadays she can most regularly be found in Race Admin helping to keep our racers in check, whilst overseeing the issue and return of Transponders. She is also an ever present at both Speed and Non-Speed events with her husband by her side.  Our winner this year is BRIDGET GROUNDS. Congratulations to Bridget
