Johnny Holmes Memorial Trophy Winner

Monday 28 January 2019

The winner of the Johnny Holmes Memorial Trophy is selected by the Club Office for good work in support of the Club’s sporting activities.  As such, it could be awarded for many things, but often it recognises an act of determination to overcome obstacles that might otherwise affect the Club’s activities.

This year’s winner has been an active member of the Vintage Sports-Car Club since 1989, competing over a number of disciplines, serving at one time on the Club’s main Committee and then on the Trials Sub-Committee and most notably of all was up until very recently the Organiser of the Exmoor Trial.

He organised the VSCC Exmoor Fringe Trial, at times almost singlehanded, for 27 years before deciding to retire from this role in 2018.

The Exmoor Fringe Trial has been a cornerstone of the VSCC Trials Calendar throughout this time, providing the opening round of the championship for many years. This prestigious and professionally organised Trial runs over multiple venues throughout the beautiful Exmoor National Park.

This year’s winner became one of the most professional and respected Trials Clerks within both the VSCC and wider motorsport community. His efforts have also recently been recognised by Motorsport UK, who placed him third in their recent annual awards for Volunteer of the Year.  This is a significant accolade.

This year’s very worthy winner of the Johnny Holmes Memorial Trophy is Graham White.
