Lot 209 - 1991 Ferrari F40 Berlinetta - front side
Monday 08 September 2014

Completing Bonhams famed Maranello Rosso Collection series are ten Ferraris, all offered at Bonhams Goodwood Revival Sale. The Sale will feature its largest ever Bonhams auction, with 106 motor cars and 172 lots of automobilia, taking place this Saturday 13 September.
Ten Ferraris plus ten recently announced Abarths are included in the sale, completing Bonhams famed Maranello Rosso Collection consignment.

A 1991 Ferrari F40 Berlinetta is a highlight of the Sale, estimated at £400,000-600,000. This European specification, left-hand-drive model Ferrari F40 was ordered by Fabrizio Violati on October 15, 1987, at the official marque dealership Sa.Mo.Car SpA in Rome, Italy.

As the last Ferrari conceived and built before Enzo Ferrari’s death, the F40 is a highly coveted model from the marque.

James Knight, Bonhams Head of Motoring, Said: “We’re delighted to complete the Goodwood Revival lineup with this wonderful selection of Ferraris. Introducing the Maranello Rosso Collection at Quail Lodge in August, Bonhams set the world record for a car sold at auction with the Ferrari 250 GTO. We now head to Goodwood with the Maranello Rosso Collection Part II with ten Abarths and ten Ferraris.”

This year’s Goodwood Revival auction is the largest ever, with a total of 278 lots, including some 106 motor cars. With a natural leaning towards cars of a sporting nature, the Sale includes:
  • two historic Maseratis; one of the fastest pre-War single seaters a 1932 Maserati 4CM estimated at £400,000 - 600,000, and a 1937 Maserati 6CM estimated at £600,000 - 900,000 (CLICK HERE to read more).
  • Other racing legends include ‘EPE 97’, the Lagonda LG45R Rapide Fox & Nicholl Team Car, estimated at £1,400,000 – 1,800,000 (CLICK HERE to read more);
  • and the ex-1930 Mille Miglia class winning OM 665 SS MM Superba (CLICK HERE to read more).
Elsewhere in the Sale, one of the few automobiles deemed worthy of inclusion in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and arguably the most easily recognised American car of all time, the 1937 Cord 810 Supercharged Phaeton, estimated at £120,000-150,000. Further highlights include a 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible, estimated at £150,000-180,000, and the 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 Coupé with Coachwork by Carrozzeria Bertone, estimated at £350,000-450,000.

The Maranello Rosso Collection series of Ferraris includes:
  • 1968 Ferrari 330 GTC Coupe – Estimate at £350,000 – 500,000
  • 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupe – Estimate at £250,000 – 300,000

  • 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta – Estimate at £350,000 – 450,000
  • 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Coupe – Estimate at £120,000 – 140,000
  • 1966 Ferrari 330 GT Series II 2+2 Coupe – Estimate at £120,000 – 150,000
  • 1964 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe – Estimate at £120,000 – 150,000
