Goodwood to host VSCC Speed Season Autumn Sprint Finale this weekend

Our Autumn Sprint will bring another fantastic VSCC Speed Season to a close at the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit tomorrow, Saturday 24 October. As usual, entry is free to Spectators so why not join us for the end of season celebrations?
Yet another capacity entry of over 100 Pre-war and Historic Racing and Sports-Cars take to hallowed Goodwood – notorious for its challenging, fast and flowing airfield circuit – for their final track activity of the year. Spanning over half a century of motoring, there is sure to be machinery on display to meet all tastes, from local Club Member Edward Way’s aero-engined 1911/18 Austin/Hall-Scott EB4 – the day’s sole Edwardian representative – to a 1960 Cooper T56.
The day represents the last chance for our Competitors to accrue points towards many of the Club’s Annual Aggregate Race/Speed Trophies so expect to see some fierce competition throughout the 17 Capacity Classes on show, with a number of those ‘in the running’ taking part. Jo Blakeney-Edwards has enjoyed a spectacular campaign in her Frazer Nash Super Sports and will be determined to finish her circuit season with yet more success amongst the Sports-Car Classes, as will perennial Class-leader David Pryke, who will be eager to dominate once more in Class 9 with his Morgan/Riley Special, and David Furnell, who ‘squares up’ to the Riley 9 of Kevin Morton for one final battle in Class 8, in his Austin 7 ‘Toy’.
The Club’s ‘young guns’ are well represented, particularly in the small capacity Racing Cars Class, which includes 17-year old Tom Waterfield, who has shown great promise in only his second season competing his Austin 7 Special. ‘Fastest Time of Day’ hopefuls Robert Cobden and Terry Crabb renew their Class 14 rivalry in the Riley Falcon Special and ERA R12C respectively, and could also face competition from a trio of experienced Morgan Three Wheeler pilots – particularly if damp conditions prevail – whilst James Cheyne’s Halford Special is a most welcome historic addition to the line-up.
Other potential ‘FTD’ candidates are Nick Topliss, who shares ERA R4A with Ben Fidler – the revered voiturette likely too potent for fellow Class 15 challengers Tony Lees (AC/GN Cognac), Tim Greenhill (Wolseley Hornet Special) and Bo Williams (Bugatti T35B) – and Julian Grimwade in the Frazer Nash Norris Special, a firm favourite in the large capacity Pre-war Class 16, whilst Julian Wilton looks to be the pick of the Post-war challenge in his Cooper Bristol, which he shares with daughter Stephanie.
Spectators are most welcome to attend and entry is free, although we do ask that you support us and purchase an event programme on arrival!
Parking is also free with a dedicated area outside the circuit for Classic vehicles whilst those arriving in Pre-war Cars will be directed to the inner paddock parking area.

Catering facilities will be available on site, alongside Trade Stands and the Club Display, selling a selection of our Regalia range, including the Club's new history book, 'A Portrait of the Vintage Sports-Car Club, 1934-2014’ by Tom Pellow, as well as the Club’s 2015 Christmas Card “Winter Sports” by Richard Wade, just in time for the festive season (CLICK HERE for details of our current Special Offer).
