Entries Closing Soon for the Club’s first ever Silverstone AutoSolo

Thursday 07 April 2016

Entries close soon for the Club’s first ever AutoSolo at Silverstone, taking place alongside our ‘Spring Start’ Race Meeting on Saturday 23 April, so don’t miss out and be sure to submit your entry now!
The AutoSolo will provide an exciting addition to our celebrated Silverstone ‘Spring Start’ Race Meeting – the long-established season opener for Vintage and Historic Racing in the UK – as both another attraction to entertain Spectators and a fantastic opportunity for our non-Racing Club Members to be part of the day.

The event will take place on one of the venue’s tarmac car parks during the morning, finishing in time for the lunch break, allowing participants a free afternoon to watch the race action on the circuit – the entry fee includes two admission tickets for ‘Spring Start’!

Following the success of the Club’s inaugural AutoSolo during the 80th Anniversary Week in Peterborough in 2014, and a well-supported event at Oulton Park last year, we welcome Martin Jelley and his team to again offer this ‘new’ discipline at Silverstone, originally devised to encourage youngsters in modern hatchbacks to have a go at motorsport.

An AutoSolo involves an ‘all forward’ Autotest on a sealed surface using numbered markers. As there is no reversing they have been proven to be very popular with the older driver in an older car too. There is less strain on the back axle and creaking necks.

The tests are more straight-forward than traditional Autotests and are, therefore, less of a memory test. They have also proved to be rather competitive. It should be an opportunity for Members to enjoy throwing their car around without risk to rheumatism or transmission.

The event is open to road-going Pre-1941 Cars (must run with wings/lights) with the Entry sub-divided into Classes based on age and/or wheelbase.

Entry Fee: £40.00 (including two admission tickets for the ‘Spring Start’ Race Meeting)

Closing Date for Entries: Monday 11 April

Note that those drivers and/or cars entered for the Race Meeting will not be able to enter as you cannot compete on more than one MSA Permit on a single day.

Members can download Supplementary Regulations and Entry Form, the latter to complete and return to the VSCC (post/fax/email accepted), or enter online at the Event Page (CLICK HERE). Remember that you will need a payment card registered with the Office and who know the Eligibility Buff Form number of the car you intend to enter to use the online entry facility.

If you have any questions, please contact the Competition Department on 01608 644777 (ext 4) or email richard.prunier@vscc.co.uk.
