Vintage Prescott – more than just a Hill Climb!

Wednesday 03 August 2016

Whilst our two motorsport competitions will rightfully take centre-stage this weekend at Prescott, there are plenty of additional attractions away from the track to keep Spectators of all ages entertained from Friday to Sunday!
Whilst visitors can enjoy free access to the Competitor Paddock, where they can get up close to the racing machinery and drivers, be sure to explore the Orchard, which will once again attract one of the world’s finest gathering of Spectator cars, with the car park strictly restricted to Pre-war cars over Saturday and Sunday.

World renowned Auction house and Club Principal Associates, Bonhams will be displaying another wonderful collection of cars from their forthcoming sales over Saturday/Sunday at their enclosure located on the outside of ‘Pardon Corner’ (accessible via the Orchard Trade Area). For the latest news from the Bonhams Motoring Department visit www.bonhams.com/motorcars.

In their 25th Anniversary year, the VSCC is delighted to once again welcome the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity as the featured charity at this year’s Prescott Vintage Speed Hill Climb Weekend – please support their efforts.

VSCC Prescott never fails to attract the finest Trade Stands & Autojumble in Vintage motoring.  Please support the sellers who are located in the Paddock (towards Ettore’s, Tyre Sellers are on the lower levels), adjacent to the Clubhouse and in the Orchard, with everything on sale, from photographs to car components.

2016 marks the Centenary of famed German manufacturer BMW, and in celebration, we are delighted to welcome Members of the BMW Historic Motor Club UK, who will bring a host of various BMW machinery to form a featured display in the Orchard on Sunday, with a Hill Parade of the cars scheduled to take place during the Lunch Break. Please do make the time to visit this very special display, where their Members will be pleased to welcome you.

We are also delighted to work with the Bugatti Trust, whose Visitor Centre will be open daily from 11.00am-4.00pm, with free entry for all VSCC Prescott ticket holders. They welcome Stefan Marjoram as Artist in Residence for the weekend, who will be running two drawing workshops for all ages on Saturday and Sunday (12.00-2.00pm), whilst ‘Virus Robotics’ – a group of students from Hertfordshire – will be demonstrating their robot at 2.30pm on Saturday.

The fabulous Prescott Clubhouse, run by Ciaran MacCana and his team, will be open every day from 7am until late, serving breakfast, lunch and evening meals, in addition to the fully licensed bar, as well as other units across the site throughout the weekend. Silent Club Films from the VSCC archives will be shown in the Clubhouse throughout the weekend to enjoy whilst you relax with food and drink.

Music fans will enjoy the regular appearance form Eureka Jazz over the weekend, who will perform an early evening set on Saturday (5.00-7.00pm) before they carry out their traditional Sunday lunchtime parade up the Hill to Orchard Corner – feel free to join them. Our Saturday night entertainment in the Clubhouse is provided by Cheltenham-based Dancin’ Easy, an award winning professional party band fronted by top UK female saxophonist Kim Cypher, who studied alongside James Brown and Van Morrison’s saxophonist and arranger Pee Wee Ellis. They perform for all kinds of events across the UK and internationally, packing dance floors with a high energy performance of great party classics (www.dancineasy.co.uk, www.facebook.com/dancineasy).

Our Club Display will be open all weekend, providing information about VSCC Membership, events and more, whilst they also offer a selection of Regalia items for all ages, as well as the latest history book, ‘A Portrait of the Vintage Sports-Car Club, 1934-2014’. Alongside will be our traditional Library Book Sale, offering an extensive selection of books and magazines for sale, including some very desirable items (open from 1.00pm). Porter Press will also be on site, selling copies of the recently launched and highly-anticipated ‘ERA: The Autobiography of R4D’, written by Club Member and former owner, Mac Hulbert.

Children’s Entertainment
Sunday morning’s traditional Bicycle Races and Pedal-Car Grand Prix, sponsored once again by Simon Diffey and Merry Printers will surely be a highlight of the weekend for our younger (and some older) enthusiasts – to find out all about the races and how to take part CLICK HERE.

Be sure to bring your children along to the Orchard throughout the weekend too, where a free Bouncy Castle will be open for business to all Children under 16 years old, from 10am until 4pm each day!

Adjacent to the Bouncy Castle, we are delighted to again welcome Amy Duckett (daughter of the Club’s Finance Manager, Sally Duckett), who again brings her ‘Things Just got Sweet’ tent. On offer are glitter tattoos, the usual selection of sweets, a lucky dip, themed Tombola and a ‘Hook a Duck’ competition across all three days.  She is very kindly donating any profits she makes to her chosen charities, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the Brain Tumour Charity.
