High Speed Trial added to line-up for the VSCC Welsh Speed Weekend

The Club’s ever-popular High Speed Trial has been added to the extensive programme of events, as part of the upcoming Welsh Speed Weekend at Pembrey on 20/21 August.
Having not been able to accommodate the annual event at this year’s Silverstone ‘Spring Start’ Meeting, the VSCC are delighted to be able to run this year’s edition as part of Sunday’s Seaman Memorial Trophies Race Meeting, part of a busy weekend of ‘Club’ motorsport at Pembrey, where we always receive a most friendly welcome from the local Marshals and Spectators.
A permanent fixture in the programme ever since the VSCC’s first Race Meeting at Silverstone on 2 July 1949, the annual High Speed Trial is a favourite for racing Novices, young Members and those more experienced Competitors alike.
Not strictly a ‘race’, drivers are against the clock to complete a set number of laps in 30 minutes dependent on car age and engine capacity, in addition to completing a mandatory ‘pit-stop’, in which they must ‘change’ a spark-plug. The event is the perfect introduction to racing without the full cut-and-thrust of head-to-head competition with the added incentive of Entry Fees refunded to all first-time racers, lady drivers and young Members who ‘qualify’. The event is restricted to Pre-war Sports-Cars with a VSCC Eligibility Document.
The Trial offers yet another fantastic addition to a packed programme of competition over the weekend, which also includes Saturday’s popular Sprint (CLICK HERE) and Team Relay Race for Pre-war Sports-Cars – recently renamed in honour of former Club Secretary, Mike Stripe (CLICK HERE) – as well as Sunday’s headline Race Meeting (CLICK HERE) and another of the Club’s new AutoSolo features, again offering a chance for those Non-racing Club Members to be part of a VSCC Race Meeting.
