Entry Deadline Extended for the VSCC Winter Driving Tests

Monday 21 November 2016

Come and celebrate the start of the festive season by entering our annual Winter Driving Tests; we are delighted to return to Bicester Heritage for the year’s traditional curtain-closer on Saturday 3 December – the entry deadline has been extended so don’t miss out and submit yours now!
A full entry of Pre-war cars is expected to take on organiser Mark Elder’s selection of driving challenges around the atmospheric venue of Bicester Heritage, the last chance for Competitors to accrue those all-important points towards the Club’s many Annual Aggregate Trophies.

Driving Tests are a fun and challenging discipline and often seen as a great introduction to motorsport for the novice or younger member, promoting car control and accuracy in an entertaining and friendly surrounding; so why not offer your car to a young family member or friend as an early Christmas present? We will also accept ‘shared cars’ on this event, offering you the option of a direct ‘head to head’ competition.

So embrace the wintery conditions and come and test your Vintage driving skills with us this December.

Breakfast and lunch will be available at the venue, with motorhomes also welcome to stay on site Friday/Saturday nights (guests will be advised where to locate on arrival) whilst Bicester Heritage now have four double bedroom suites available on site with further details and prices, and details of how to book found on their website:  http://bicesterheritage.co.uk/accommodation/.

Entry Fee £55.00 (½ price for those aged 30 and under on 1 January 2016)

Minimum Competitor Age 16 years old, restricted to touring cars under 1400cc

Visit the event page (CLICK HERE) to download Supplementary Regulations and Entry Form, the latter to compete and return or alternatively Club Members with a credit card lodged with the Office and who know the Buff Form Number of the car they wish to enter online.

For those whose cars are already ‘hibernating’ for the winter, why not come along and marshal for the day? Previous marshalling experience is useful but by no means necessary and it is a great way to give something back to the Club for the 2016 season. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Competition Department.

The Entry Deadline has been extended to end of Wednesday 23 November. If you have any questions, please contact Non-Speed Secretary, Andrew Tarring in the Competition Department on 01608 644777 Ext 4 or email andrew.tarring@vscc.co.uk.

And don’t forget...

MSA MEDICALS
Once again our VSCC doctors and helpers will be in attendance at the Winter Driving Tests to carry out MSA Medicals for charity. There is no need to book, simply turn up at Bicester Heritage with your body, your licence application form and your cheque book. The Medicals are scheduled to finish at around 2.00pm so make sure you arrive in good time to avoid disappointment. A choice of charities will be the beneficiaries of the fee – those of you that pay tax will be asked to complete a ‘gift aid’ declaration as well so that the charity can claim the tax on your donation.

Bonhams are kindly donating Champagne in a free raffle for both Medicals candidates and those marshalling on the day.

RACE & SPEED FORUM
We will also be holding our annual end of season Race & Speed Forum at the venue. This is your chance to give feedback on the 2016 calendar of Race, Sprint and Hill Climb events and also put forward any suggestions for these disciplines for next year and beyond. Tell us what you think of the venues, meetings, technical requirements and organisation all in an open forum style meeting.

Everyone is welcome, seasoned Competitors, Marshals or those who are just starting out – so please come along and tell us what you want from the events organised by your Club. Please feel welcome to forward any particular items for the agenda to the Competition Department prior to the day.
