A good event by all at the NYDT.
A crisp winters morning greeted the competitors and spectators alike for the traditional Vintage Sports-Car Club season-opener The New Year Driving Tests, which took place took place on Sunday 19th January at historic Brooklands in Surrey. 47 compettitors had signed on and took up the challenge of the 12 tests Clerk of the Course Kevin Lee had prepared on the hallowed concrete of Brooklands. Six of the best for Compton Annabel Jones (Frazer Nash BMW) best in the touring car class after the first but then retired from the competition, David Marsh (Bugatti Brescia Two-Seater) top standard sports car, Robert Moore and David Wallom in Austin Sevens shared the lead in the modified sports car division, and another Austin, this time Richard Wadman’s 1928 Seven Chummy headed class five. Indeed, Wadman dominated all day and eased to a category win. Neil Thorp (1934 Singer 9 Sports Coupé) fought back with two fastest times to claim touring-car honours and Alex Pilkington scored a standard sports cars class victory in her 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750. Meanwhile Paul Compton (1934 Wolseley Aerees Special) bagged six fastest test times en route to taking modified sports cars spoils. Provisional Results.pdf
