Philipburn Country Hotel, Nr Selkirk, TD7 5LS

Event main image
A scenic tour of the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders, based at the Philipburn Country Hotel, TD7 5LS, outside Selkirk, covering one hundred miles in a "figure of eight" route so the start, finish and lunchtime stop will be at the hotel. Half the route will be to the west of Selkirk and include St Mary's Loch and the open road to Roberton while the eastern half will visit Scott's View and the lower Tweed Valley around Kelso. Cars will be dispatched alternating between the two routes so that all participants meet up for lunch and then complete the route in the afternoon. The run will be totally non-competitive and easy to follow navigational instructions will be given in a comprehensive Route Book. The entry fee of £25.00 will include tea and coffee at the start and finish, with a cold buffet lunch at £10.95 per person provided by the hotel, payable in advance with your Entry Fee.

The Philipburn Country Hotel will also be open for other meals for participants. If there is sufficient interest, we will organise a "Tour Dinner" at the Philipburn County Hotel in the evening, at £23.50 per person for a three course dinner.

The Tour is open to all cars made before 1st January 1941 and the route will include some of the best "vintage" driving in the country with open roads, spectacular views of the River Tweed and the Eildon Hills, and with little but courteous traffic. Entrants choosing to use the event as the basis of a weekend in the Scottish Borders can stay at the Philipburn County Hotel - a "Best Western" hotel - at a special B&B rate on either Friday, Saturday or both nights. The hotel provides a good base for visits to Abbotsford - the home of Sir Walter Scott – Bowhill House or The Haining around Selkirk, with Thirlestane and Floors castles and the ancient Borders monasteries nearby.
