What we Do

The Vintage Sports-Car Club is for anyone who has passion for vintage cars. Alongside many Motorsport UK permitted event including race meetings, sprints and hillclimbs, trials, rallies and tours. (Details can be found in other parts of the website), our Club offers social activities including local pub meets called natter and noggins.
You do not need an eligible car to enjoy our events and you can still be involved as a marshal  or spectator.
Alongside the opportunity to support one of the premier historic motoring clubs, there are a number of member benefits listed below.

The Club

The Vintage Sports-Car Club was formed in 1934 by a group of five founder members ‘to provide competitive events for cars five years old or more and social events for members’. Initially the age cut off for eligible cars was intended to be a rolling five years but this changed very quickly. In 1936 this was changed to any cars manufacturer prior to December 31st 1930 as the members felt this date marked a shift towards mass market sports car which were not desirable. Since then the Club has recognised Post Vintage Thouroughbreds which were manufactured later but still have the workmanship recognised as desirable. These designations were adopted by the governing body, then the Royal Automobile Club and are still in place today.

Events

The Club organises almost 50 events a year so whether you want to see cars raced or driven, there really is something for everyone. Trials and AutoSolos make fantastic introduction events and we are very proud to have an active and engaged young membership, their competitive efforts are recognised each year in the award of the Rowley Trophy for members under 23 years old.
