The VSCC is delighted to return to St George’s Barracks, Bicester, for the year’s traditional curtain-closer, the Winter Driving Tests. As ever championed by the father and son team of Malcolm and Mark Elder, the event is the last chance for competitors to accrue those all-important points towards the Club’s many Annual Aggregate Trophies as well as their final opportunity to compete in earnest with the Club in 2012. Driving Tests are a fun and challenging discipline and often seen as a great introduction to motor sport for the younger member, promoting car control and accuracy in an entertaining and friendly surrounding. So embrace the wintery conditions and come and test your vintage driving skills with us this December.

MEDICALS AT THE WINTER DRIVING TESTS

Once again our VSCC doctors are pleased to offer the service of medical examinations for next year's racing licences.  There is no need to book a medical, simply turn up at St George's Barracks with your body, your licence application form and your cheque book.   All of who take up the opportunity will be asked to make a donation to charity. The prices will be £90.00 and those of you that pay tax will be asked to complete a ‘gift aid’ declaration as well so that the charity can claim the tax on your donation.  Of course, extra contributions are very welcome!  Bonhams will sponsor a prize of Champagne in a free raffle for marshals and medicees.

We will sorely miss the contribution of Arthur Holmes Pickering who supported the medicals over a number of years.  Arthur sadly passed away in May of this year.

For those who need them, stress test ECGs can be performed at Kettering General Hospital ECG Department - 01536 492485.   Lorraine King has now retired but Sharon will be able to help you.  Tests can be done within a couple of days of the request.  The cost is still £100 (a bargain!) which goes directly to Kettering Hospital.  It is suggested that those making use of this service make a cash donation of approximately £25 to the clinical physiologist staff.  Clinical physiologists can sign off  a normal report there but abnormal reports will be seen by a cardiologist and may take slightly longer.
Vintage Sports-Car Club Driving Tests are not open to the public and we therefore do not encourage spectators.
