The Club’s winter trials season continues with the annual pilgrimage north to the picturesque surroundings of the Lake District, covering a wide area of the Lakes from Honister in the south to Beck Wythop Forest in the north. Based in the Low Lorton/Keswick area, The Wheatsheaf, as usual, welcomes competitors for what will surely prove to be another thrilling day of motor sport. Entries are expected to pour into the office as members are always eager to test both their Pre-war car and their own driving skills against some of the most challenging sections of the year, not least the infamous Drumhouse. The twisting climb to the summit is the ultimate trialling challenge and successful clearance can prove reward enough for the day’s efforts. 2014 sees the return of the experienced organising team of Alan Couper, John Gill, Alan Dunn, Terry Richardson and Myke Pocock. They aim to ensure the character of this event prevails for the foreseeable future and again will be introducing some new hills. Do not miss the chance to participate in one of the Club’s most historic and well-loved events – the maximum entry the Forestry Commission allow is 100 so enter soon to avoid disappointment!

Advance Notice for all Competitors and Marshals - Due to an extensive felling programme Beck Wythop forest is not available this year so no Thirlby's Folly, Raughton Beck Rise, etc.  The Club has been going in there for a very long time and the inevitable has happened, the trees are mature enough to be felled which will change the nature of the forest, however we have been assured by the Forestry Commission we will be able to go back into Beck Wythop in 2015.  The organising team hasn't stood still and has found six replacement hills in a different forest so the total number of hills on the day will still be 12, some of the new ones being very challenging.  You will read all about when the Competitors’ and Marshals' Instructions come out.
The trial is based around The Wheatsheaf Inn at Lorton, on the Cockermouth to Buttermere Road although most competitors choose to stay in Keswick, the social base for the event.
