Incredible line-up of Pre-war Aston Martins will be the focus of VSCC Prescott Speed Hill Climb

The world’s oldest Aston Martin makes rare appearance at Centenary celebration.
The oldest surviving Aston Martin, the 1921 ‘A3’,the only remaining prototype of five built by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin, will be the centrepiece of a special display of Pre-war Aston Martins to celebrate the marque’s centenary at the Vintage Sports-Car Club’s Prescott Speed Hill Climb on 3-4 August thanks to the Aston Martin Heritage Trust.

Sale becomes highest-grossing motor car auction in Europe.
Automotive history was made at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale on 12 July, when the car that took five-time champion Juan Manuel Fangio to the second of his Formula 1 world titles achieved a record-breaking figure of £19,601,500. The auction as a whole realised £37,072,464 to become the highest-grossing auction of motor cars in Europe.

Bonhams’ annual Sale at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will feature not
only one of the most significant motor cars of the 20th Century but also the
most important historic Grand Prix racing car ever offered at public auction.
It is the 1954 2½-litre straight-8 Mercedes-Benz W196 einsitzer – chassis number
‘00006/54’ – in which five-times World Champion Driver Juan Manuel Fangio won both the 1954 German and Swiss Grand Prix races.

Thousands of spectators basked in the heat at Shelsley Walsh for the ‘Vintage’ meeting which featured some 130 Vintage Sports-Car Club members in action yesterday. James Baxter wowed the crowds by taking ‘Fastest Time of the Day’ for his performance in ERA R4A, his new competition vehicle and duly took the ‘Fray Challenge Trophy’ for his best time of 34.54 seconds,

Vauxhall 30-98 Centenary to be celebrated in style at Shelsley Walsh hill climb this weekend

Our annual VSCC Norfolk Tour takes place later this month on Saturday 27 July. The ever-popular event is an undoubted highlight for our members in East Anglia and beyond and is always well-supported with record entries over the last couple of years. In keeping with the military theme of recent editions, the 2013 event continues with a World War II Bomber Command background, this year starting and finishing at The Grove Cheshire Home at East Carleton, south-west of Norwich (NR14 8HP).

The ever-popular VSCC Pre-war Sports-Car Team Relay Race will be held on the evening of Saturday 17 August at Pembrey. As part of the Club’s ever-growing Welsh Speed Weekend, the event will be an exciting finale to Saturday’s track action, following the conclusion of the Sprint, and a great warm-up for Sunday’s Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting programme.
