Entry Deadline for Welsh Speed Weekend extended!

The entry deadline for  the VSCC’s fourth  visit to Pembrey circuit on the South Wales coast on 17th / 18th August , for a bumper weekend of Sprinting and Racing has been extended to the morning of Tuesday 6 August (or 23.59hrs on Monday 5th August for online entries).

Today is the last day to purchase discounted tickets for Prescott Speed Hill Climb this weekend in Gloucestershire. Tickets are available on the gate priced at £15 per person on Saturday and £25 per person on Sunday, but you could save up to £10 by purchasing tickets in advance before the end of today.

Nuthall cruises to a second Bob Gerard Memorial Trophy win whilst Vintage GN Racers steal the show.

Cooper Bristol pilot, William Nuthall dominated the feature race at the Vintage Sports-Car Club Bob Gerard Memorial Trophies Race Meeting cruising to  victory 7.83 seconds ahead of a fabulous field spanning four decades of racing car history.  Nuthall’s margin for pole in the 1953 machine was a mere second ahead of a pack of four Pre-war challengers. Steve Russell qualified his original Gerard Bristol in a creditable sixth place. Nick Topliss leapt to the fore off the line in ERA R4A and held onto second place until the fifth lap when Fred Harper’s Kurtis Indy Roadster and Tom Dark’s unique Bugatti Type 73C moved into second and third places and hounded him down.

As Mallory Park dominates the headlines due to threats from the local borough council to reduce the number of days of track activity because of noise issues, Vintage Sports-Car Club competitors have entered the VSCC’s Bob Gerard  Memorial Trophy Race in their droves showing their endearing enthusiasm and support for Leicestershire’s ‘Friendly Circuit’.  The VSCC has held the event at Mallory Park since 7 July 1991.

The world’s oldest Aston Martin makes rare appearance at Centenary celebration.
The oldest surviving Aston Martin, the 1921 ‘A3’,the only remaining prototype of five built by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin, will be the centrepiece of a special display of Pre-war Aston Martins to celebrate the marque’s centenary at the Vintage Sports-Car Club’s Prescott Speed Hill Climb on 3-4 August thanks to the Aston Martin Heritage Trust.

Sale becomes highest-grossing motor car auction in Europe.

Automotive history was made at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale on 12 July, when the car that took five-time champion Juan Manuel Fangio to the second of his Formula 1 world titles achieved a record-breaking figure of £19,601,500. The auction as a whole realised £37,072,464 to become the highest-grossing auction of motor cars in Europe.
