The Vintage Sports-Car Club return to Pembrey in the middle of August for the fourth Welsh Speed Weekend as this two-day meeting grows in popularity and stature.

The meeting starts off with a Sprint on Saturday including classes for a Pre-war Racing and Sports-Cars,  Post-war Invited Classes, from 750cc Sports-Cars to Pre-1961 Racing Cars and 1950s Sports-Cars. The Sprint is followed by the popular Team Race for Pre-war Sports-Cars on the Saturday afternoon which is  90 minutes in duration for teams of three drivers.  Fourteen teams are confirmed so enjoy Frazer Nash teams going head-to-head with Riley, Lagonda, MG representations and many more.

No less than three historic ERA Pre-war Voiturette machines will compete on Sunday.  Gloucestershire’s Mac Hulbert comes fresh from achieving ‘Fastest Time of the Day’ at last weekend’s Prescott Speed Hill Climb with ERA R4D. He will also be looking to retain his grasp on the Hawthorn Spanish Trophy for Pre-war Racing Cars in which he was victorious in last year.
Terry Crabb from Dorset will race ERA R12C and Mark Gillies flies in from the USA to give Mary Smith’s ERA R2A a rare airing on UK soil. They are joined by some other exquisite kit namely Philip Walker’s Lotus 16 fresh from Silverstone Classic  and Chris Mann’s Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 in the headline race.
Mac Hulbert and Terry Crabb also compete in the Sprint on Saturday.
88 Pre war and Historic cars will participate in the Sprint event on Saturday whilst over 100 will race in one or more of the 11 races in the programme for Sunday’s Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting.

The circuit is located adjacent to the Pembrey Forest and the Irish Sea just south of Kidwelly.  It is only twelve miles from Junction 48 of the M4 Motorway and a total of 90 miles, (therefore under 2 hours) from the Severn Bridge.  Pendine Sands, including the Museum of Speed where ‘Babs’ is housed is only 30 miles away to the west.
