20 Jan 2018

Bruntingthorpe Proving Grounds, Lutterworth, Leicestershire LE17 5QS

Event main image
First run in 1950, the Measham is one of the most important events in the VSCC calendar and the ultimate Pre-war motoring challenge. Always organised by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, a finish, let alone an award, on any Measham is a major accomplishment of which any motorsport Competitor can be proud.
This event will be accessible to all but will continue to offer those challenges that the Measham is famous for.
The Start, Halfway and Finish will be at; Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome, an excellent venue, easy to get to from any part of the country. We will offer ample trailer parking, undercover scrutineering, fettling facilities and plenty of plotting room. Drinks and hot food will be available on site. There are some great village pubs with rooms and many lovely B and Bs in the area.
The route will be approximately 160 miles, instructions in the first half will be by map reference only, the second half will be following a new format that will be easily accessible to all (London Map) the emphasis being on accurate timekeeping. .
This year we are running a Champagne Class, for which you do not need a Buff form and the organisers are offering a Trophy for the winner, not just a bottle of Champagne so come along an enjoy the Measham.

VSCC RALLY REVIVAL
NEW CLASS STRUCTURE
To make VSCC Rallies more accessible to everyone and to encourage Competitors of all abilities to successfully find the route, keep to time and enjoy the event we have decided upon the following structure of three classes:-
CHAMPAGNE CLASS
Open to any Pre-war car (Buff Forms not necessary). Instructions will take the form of a straight-forward ‘Roadbook’ style with simple instructions or marked map eg
3.7 miles Turn Left at T junction into Smithy Lane Signpost Chipping. Instructions will be accompanied by Tulip diagrams of junctions and sections of marked up OS maps. Hints will be given with timing. These instructions are designed to allow complete beginners to get round the route keeping to a reasonable time schedule. Competitors will receive their instructions 45 minutes before their start time. We can virtually guarantee ‘you will not get lost!’ The event winner cannot come from this class. The winning driver and navigator will each receive a bottle of Champagne. This would be an ideal class for beginners, novices or those who just want a more relaxing Rally.
CLUBMAN CLASS
Open to any Pre-war car (Buff Forms not necessary). Instructions will be by the most straight-forward rally conventions eg map features, London Map, spot heights and tulips which competitors plot onto an OS map. There will be NO complex rally instructions. Hints will be given with timing. Competitors in this class will receive their instructions 30 minutes before their start time. The event winner cannot come from this class. The winning driver and navigator will also each receive a bottle of wine. This class could be seen as a step-up from the Champagne Class, an entry level class for those who like map reading or again for those who want a more relaxing rally.
TROPHY CLASS
To enter this class your car MUST have a Buff Form. Instructions may include any usual rally conventions . Instructions will be available 15 minutes before you start. The event winners may only come from this class. Awards and trophies will be awarded in the usual way.
Entrants may enter which class they choose. There is NO promotion or relegation!
There will also be a Junior Navigator Award, for the winning navigator under 21, in each Rally and an annual Junior Navigator Trophy presented at the end of the season.
