Hertfordshire Tour
31 May 2025

The 2025 VSCC Hertfordshire Tour:
Fighters, Bombers and Racing Cars.
Once again we promise a great day’s
vintage motoring with something for everyone so please do take the opportunity
to bring friends, family - anyone you’d like to introduce to the wonderful
world of prewar cars. As well as the now-legendary bacon rolls of Fairclough
Hall Farm at Halls Green, this year’s start will also feature an insight into
the B17 Flying Fortress history of the village and that‘s a theme that will
continue as the Tour progresses through the splendid early-summer scenery of
Hertfordshire. As we head East there will be a choice of routes with faster
cars able to opt for a flying visit to Fowlmere Airfield where there will be a quick
introduction to its very busy history spanning both Wars and both British and
American Air Forces. The gentler-paced route option will take in Nuthampstead
where we’ll be talked through the enormous role played by the airfield as a
long-standing WW2 base for both Fighter and Bomber Groups of the USAAF. Onwards
then to the Ploughman’s Lunch: pre-booked, great value and this year served by
the community pub at Helions Bumpstead with meadow parking and a chance to talk
before we head back West to the finish at Blakeney Motorsport in Buntingford
where the tea and cake will have to struggle to compete for attention with a
stunning array of cars and workshop equipment. We very much look forward to
seeing you again and of course to welcoming new Tourists.
