The Inaugural Champagne Rally Takes Place This Weekend

The Vintage Sports-Car Club Rally Revival launched at the start of the year has been developed to welcome new and lost Rally competitors back to the discipline.  The Champagne Rally, is the inaugural Event to take place under this new umbrella, this coming weekend at Wyck Hill House Hotel & Spa, Stow-on-the-Wold.

On Saturday morning a programme of presentations covering all aspects of Rallying will be given by VSCC ‘experts’.  Jenny Lees, Chair of the Rally Sub-Committee will open the Event with a brief introduction followed by Martin Jelley, an experienced VSCC Rallyist, who will talk about cockpit management and the division of duties between driver and navigator. Richard Smith, a VSCC Scrutineer will give advice on the preparation of cars for a Rally. With over 500 Rallies to his name, from modern stage Rally to VSCC Rallies and also the winner of the VSCC Navigators Trophy, Dood Pearce, will guide those attending through map references.  The presentations will conclude with Annabel Jones, winner of the Measham Night Navigational Rally and many other VSCC trophies, who will discuss map features and timings.

After lunch the entrants will be putting into practice elements from the morning session in a short amble around local roads. Sunday`s instructions will be given out with expert help on hand to help plot the route. Entrants will then have a few hours off before a drinks reception followed by a three course Dinner with a talk given by Mac Hulbert covering his early Vintage motoring experiences.

Sunday morning the entrants will leave the Hotel bringing together their new skills in a Rally around the roads of the Cotswolds covering over forty miles before returning for lunch.

The weekend will be wrapped up with presentations of awards to the lucky competitors who excelled.

With a delectable selection of cars and a lovely venue at the Wyck Hill House Hotel & Spa, the Champagne Rally will cover two days with routes taking the entrants around the picturesque Cotswolds ensuring the competitors have a weekend to remember.
