Time to enter Shelsley Walsh ‘Vintage’ Hill Climb and Order Discounted Spectator Tickets.

Thursday 06 June 2013

Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb ‘Vintage and Post Vintage Thoroughbred’ meeting creates a special draw when the historic Worcestershire venue harks back to its Pre-war roots as Vintage Sports-Car Club members fill the paddock and tackle the original course in the very cars that competed at Shelsley in its heyday.
Sunday 7 July will see the original Shelsley ‘specials’ like Basil Davenport’s GN ‘Spider’ (now in the capable hands of David Leigh), John Wiseman’s ‘Gnat’ and David Fletcher-Jones’s GN ‘Martyr Instone Special’ in action.  They will be joined by the most celebrated Shelsley car of all-time, Mac Hulbert’s ex-Raymond Mays ERA, R4D which will hopefully be joined by other representatives of Bourne’s finest export.
If you are planning to compete at this year’s ‘Vintage’ meeting, please hurry and submit your entry to the Midland Automobile Club (MAC) before the deadline which is rapidly approaching, Wednesday 12 June.  Remember, the VSCC do not organise the meeting, so you need to download MAC forms and submit to them or use the MAC online entry system at www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk
Don’t forget, there are classes for Post-war Racing Cars too and the steep challenging Shelsey hill is the perfect place to stretch the legs of a high paced racer.
If you need a little more convincing to attend, whether as a competitor or spectator, there is no staged theatre or re-enactment at Shelsley, this is the only active original Pre-war venue in the country and the historical pit bays are the real thing.  Shelsley is a magical place and you cannot fail to be absorbed into the unique atmosphere which really comes to life with the roar of Vintage engines warming up in the paddock and the evocative smell of Castrol R wafting through the air.

The event starts at 9.15 am with the event finishing around 5.30pm or a little later dependent on the conduct of the event. There is also a ‘Classic’ meeting the preceding Saturday 6 July, see www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk for more information.
Spectators can save £5 by booking their entry tickets in advance, which are priced at £15 per person, or £20 per person on the day.  Children under 16 go free.  VSCC members can book here or call 01608 644999 or non-members should book through the MAC, see www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk
