On a par with the TT, inspirational racing opens the VSCC meeting at Cadwell Park tomorrow!

Friday 07 June 2013

As the sporting world gathers to watch the fabled ‘Senior TT’ on the final day of the Isle of Man TT races today, the paddock at Cadwell Park will be filling with competitors who share the same passion and dedication to their racing as the TT Road Racers ahead of the Vintage Sports-Car Club meeting on Saturday 8 June.
The Morgan Three Wheeler racers, together with their passengers are definitely a special breed of competitor as they tackle the undulating Cadwell Park circuit in their nimble Pre-war three-wheeled machines at speeds in excess of 100 mph with the willing passengers acting as vital ‘ballast’ rather like a side-car passenger.  The Morgan Three Wheeler Club members are a dedicated bunch, competing their cars at hill climb, race and sprint events across the UK and Europe. The race at Cadwell forms part of their annual ‘Club Challenge’ series for the 2013 competition season.

The mighty Morgans get the day’s racing underway at 1.00pm following lunch break and morning practice. Run under ACU regulations, the Morgans use a small chicane, situated after the exit of ‘Mansfield’ corner before ‘The Moutain’; following their race, the track is reconfigured to MSA car racing requirements. The afternoon sees a full programme of 11 races including the Frazer Nash and GN Race, the ‘Williams Trophy Race’ for Pre-1935 Grand Prix Cars that features no less than 19 Bugattis, Pre-war Sports-Car races, a Formula 3(500) Race, the ‘John Holland Trophy Race’ for Vintage Racing Cars and the feature race, the ‘Shuttleworth, Nuffield and Len Thompson Memorial Trophies Race’ for Pre-1961 front-engined Racing Cars.

Tickets on the gate cost £16.00 per person and Children under 13 years old go free.  Parking is free and spectators will enjoy unrestricted paddock access.  Come and enjoy the new bridge that gives much improved access to the far side of the track with amazing views of the start/finish straight. The Clubhouse is open all day for hot meals, snacks and drinks, including a fully licensed bar.

Cadwell Park is located on the A153, 10 miles north of Horncastle and 5 miles south of Louth. If you are approaching from the south, the A153 can be accessed from the A1. Coming from the north or west, use the A1, M1 or M62, then take the M180 to Brigg, then the A1084 to Caistor.
