All set for a sublime Shelsley Walsh

Friday 05 July 2013

Everything points towards this Sunday’s Vintage Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb being an unforgettable event as visitors will be able to bask in temperatures in the high twenties whilst watching one of the best entries in recent years thanks, in no small part to the Vauxhall 30-98 Centenary.
Over 100 Vauxhalls will gather in the Vintage Car Park at Shelsley, the culmination of a week of events to celebrate this iconic car’s 100th birthday and over 19 Vauxhalls will perform on the challenging Shelsley course.  The competition will be fierce as all of the drivers will be keen for their car to reign supreme on the hill in the centenary year particularly in Class 11 as Worcestershire 30-98 specialists, Jeremy Brewster and Julian Ghosh go head-to-head in their 1920 and 1924 models respectively.
James Collins will be hoping to take the honours in the Edwardian Car Class in his 1917 Hudson Super Six. Liz Cawley will be hoping to outwit husband, Dougal as they both give their GN Ford Special, ‘Piglet’ a run in Class 11.  Classes 13 and 14 are bursting with original ‘Shelsley Walsh Specials’ , don’t miss David Leigh in ‘Spider’ alongside Winston Teague in ‘Wasp’ and John Wiseman in ‘Gnat’. Three glorious ERAs will grace the hill; don’t miss R4A’s return to action on the Worcestershire hill, in the capable hands of James Baxter, who will be challenged by, Mac Hulbert in ERA R4D, a previous Pre-war course record holder.  Terry Crabb lays down the gauntlet in Class 14 in R12C.
Gates open at 8am and cars start competing on the hill from 9.15am.
There will be a break for lunch around midday and competition will run in the afternoon until approximately 5.30pm.

Shelsley Walsh is located deep in the Worcestershire countryside near Ombersley, ten miles north-west of Worcester, near Clifton-upon-Teme.

Advance tickets sales are now closed but entry is available on the gate at £20.00 per person,  children under 16 free.

The event features VSCC cars but is organised wholly by the Midland Automobile Club therefore please visit their website for further information.
