Entries close soon for The Autumn Rally

Thursday 15 August 2013

Taking place on Saturday 7th September, this year’s Autumn Rally heralds the change of seasons and moves east, starting and finishing at The George and Dragon at Wolverton; just off the A339 between Newbury and Basingstoke.

The event has already received a strong entry in all classes, however, we still have capacity to welcome any late joiners.
The Experts Class sees the ‘usual suspects’ go head to head and the battle for annual honours continue into the fourth round of the series. Ray Edge is joined by new navigator Rebecca O’Brien, who will be challenged by long-time duo of Mark Garfitt and Dood Pearce, in their beautiful Frazer Nash / BMW, who will be looking for their first win of the season.

In the Semi-Experts Class, we find regular drivers Robert Britcher and Barney Creaser in their Lancia Augusta and MG PA respectively. David Crouch and Andy Fox will be hoping for a repeat performance from June’s Summer Rally, where they took top honours in the Semi-Expert Class.

The Novice and Champagne Classes, designed to provide the perfect spring board into VSCC rallying,  welcomes a battle of the families, with Giles Hedley, navigated by son Will in their Ford Model A going head to head with New Year Driving Test organiser, Kevin Lee and his son, Jasper, making his VSCC competition debut in the family Alvis 12/50. Lawrence and Margaret Gerring will once again grace the Champagne Class with the presence of their MG TA.

The lunch stop will be at Beech Hill where the local branch of the Save the Children Fund will provide a £6 lunch.

The very compact 99 mile route in the Reading/Newbury/Basingstoke triangle will be less hilly than last year, making it suitable for those with smaller capacity or under-powered engines.

The Novice and Champagne Class Route Instructions will be kept straightforward with plenty of grid references to keep you on track.
