Entries close soon for the VSCC Welsh Speed Weekend, Pembrey, 28/29 June 2014 - Deadline Extended!

Incorporating the Sprint followed by the Team Relay Race for Pre-war Sports-Cars on the Saturday then our prestigious Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting on Sunday, the Club’s Welsh Speed Weekend is fast-becoming one of the favourites of the year, with the popular South Wales circuit playing host to a true club weekend of motorsport. Entry Deadline extended so submit your entries now!
Entry Deadline extended to Wednesday 18 June (Noon). Please note that the online entry facility will close at Midnight on the preceding Tuesday.
Pembrey is one of the hidden gems of the UK Motorsport scene and only 90 minutes from the Severn Bridge crossing. It boasts an exciting, fast circuit, popular with all racers who have driven it (even the late great Ayrton Senna claimed it was a favourite of his after testing his McLaren F1 there in the late 1980s). And with multiple chances to get out on track, the annual weekend is truly great value:
Pembrey Sprint, Saturday 28 June (Entry Fee £77*)
The Sprint is now firmly established as part of the Club’s Speed calendar. The event boasts the Club’s usual full compliment of Pre-war classes in addition to Invited Pre-1961 classes for Post-war Historic Racing Cars, including F3 (500)* and 1950s Sports Racing Cars* and offers two practice and two competitive runs to every entrant. Comprising approx 75% of the complete circuit, the 1859 yard course is a great test for all levels of experience and is also a great chance to familiarise yourself with the track before the Racing commences. Discounts are also available to shared entries and those additionally entering their car for the Race Meeting.
*Note there are also races for both F3 (500) and 1950s Sports Racing Cars in Sunday’s Race Meeting.

Team Relay Race for Pre-war Sports-Cars, Saturday 28 June, Afternoon (Entry Fee £315 per team)
The VSCC’s ever-popular Team Relay Race continues at Pembrey in 2014. As previously, teams will consist of three driver/car combinations (i.e. minimum of 3 drivers and 2 cars so shared cars are allowed) and will last 90 minutes; however, the unique camaraderie and excitement remains. Gather your friends (single marque teams encouraged but not mandatory), nominate a Team Captain and devise your tactics for one of the highlights of the Club’s Racing Season.
If you’re interested in taking part but are not currently affiliated with an existing team do get in touch as we may well be able to match you up with other members! Similarly, if you are at Pembrey for Saturday’s Sprint and only have a Non-Race licence or are not competing in a Team Race-eligible car over the weekend, why not offer to marshal for the event? We require a number of Judges to help oversee the teams and it’s a really fun way to get involved. Contact the Comps Dept if you’re interested!

Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting, Sunday 29 June
Comprising some of the Club’s most historic trophies, our Hawthorn Memorial Trophies meeting is a stellar line-up of Pre-war and Historic Racing and a truly wonderful occasion to honour the memory of the racing great, Mike Hawthorn. The day’s programme includes (not in order):
Boulogne Trophy for Vintage Racing Cars (Set 1, 12 Minutes, £182)
Hawthorn Memorial & Spanish Trophies for Pre-1961 front-engined Racing Cars (Set 2, 15 Minutes, £198) NB Please note that Pre-1961 Rear-engined Cars up to 1500cc are also eligible.
Bill Philips Trophy for Standard & Modified Pre-war Sports-Cars (Set 3, 10 Minutes, £149)
Hawthorn Brighton Trophy for Special Pre-war Sports-Cars (Set 4, 10 Minutes, £149)

Beyond the track, Pembrey offers a warm welcome to all, with the circuit’s local marshals always turning out in force to support the Club and see our wonderful machinery in action. The Circuit’s ‘Formula 1 Bar’ serves hot & cold food all day and is the scene of the ever-popular Saturday night entertainment! There will also be a drinks reception in the Paddock for all Competitors, Marshals and guests following the conclusion of Saturday’s track action, hosted at the ‘ODM’ tent so come and join us for a fun-filled weekend of Club motorsport and frivolity as only the VSCC can offer!
Entries for all three events will close on Wednesday 18 June (Noon).
