Funds raised for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity at VSCC Prescott

Tuesday 05 August 2014

The Club’s nominated charity for both Friday’s 80th Anniversary Hill Climb and our traditional Prescott Speed Hill Climb event – the Midlands Air Ambulance – enjoyed a successful three days of fund raising this past weekend.
In spite of the torrential rains of Saturday, the charity raised a fantastic £1507.63 over the three days, in addition to £170 in merchandise sales. Their wonderful HeliPOD proved a great hit throughout the weekend, giving an accurate representation inside the working fleet of helicopters. The Club thanks co-ordinator, Susie Godwin and her team of volunteers for their hard work collecting donations and greeting visitors to their marquee in the Orchard Trade Village.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is the only charity responsible for funding and operating three strategically located air ambulances serving six counties in the Midlands. The service needs to raise in excess of £6.5 million each year to remain operational and since 1991 the charity has responded to more than 40,000 missions.

What’s not widely known is that the charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding. Each air ambulance mission costs £2,500 and relies entirely on the general public and local businesses to help raise these vital funds.
