VSCC Takes To the Fens

Friday 07 June 2019

Dambusters, Bubble Cars and Tennyson; an exploration of the lesser known attractions of Lincolnshire

Famous for its rolling fens and vast skies but also home to so much more; steep hills, unspoilt villages and the landmarks of a long and illustrious aviation history dot its unique landscape.
Open to all pre-January 1961 cars, the VSCC Lincolnshire Tour begins with breakfast rolls in the Officers' Mess of 617 (Dambusters) Squadron (now the Petwood Hotel).  The largely flat route of 30 miles passes through Tattershall and Coningsby to the Bubble Car Museum before halting for lunch at the NAAFI in the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum.
The afternoon route of around 40 miles explores the hills of the Wolds and passes landmarks such as Bolingbroke Castle and the birthplace of Tennyson before tea is served at West Ashby Manor.
Light rain and sunny spells are forecast for tomorrow's event; the perfect early summer weather to show off this fascinating landscape.
