PRESCOTT BICYCLE RACES AND PEDAL-CAR GRAND PRIX

Tuesday 30 July 2019

The highlight of the year for so many of the Club’s younger (and older!) Members, Sunday’s activities get underway with the traditional and ever-popular Bicycle Races.

Long-time Club Member, Simon Diffey of Merry Printers has once again kindly sponsored the event – having been introduced to the annual VSCC Boulogne Bicycle Raid with his brother, James over 30 years ago – there will be the usual prizes for this year’s race winners, and sweets and drinks for all participants.

This year there are some changes to help the smooth running of the weekend.
There will be an official practice on Saturday, after the track action has finished, from approximately17.30 till 18.30.

If you would like to
take part in this please assemble from 5pm with bicycle, helmet and if U18, a parent in the programme marquee situated on the Orchard side of the bridge to sign-on.

Racing starts at 8.30am

Don’t forget there is also the Children’s Pedal Car Grand Prix for Children Under 16 which is strictly restricted to pedal power only, no motorised or battery powered cars.

If you would like to take part, assemble from 7.30am with any type of bicycle, or pedal car, in the Paddock for Signing-on and ‘Scrutineering’ please remember to bring a helmet and a parent/guardian for any Under 18s.  There will be races for the Under 10s, Under 16s and Over 16s, depending on demand – weird and wonderful cycling machinery is encouraged!  If you do not have a bicycle with you, do come along early to watch; you are sure to see some fascinating machinery, from Penny Farthings to tandems to unicycles!

Please remember no bicycles are to be ridden in the Paddock or on the Hill Climb course other than during the practice session or before assembling for Sunday’s races.

ALL BICYCLE RACE ENTRANTS MUST WEAR A HELMET PLEASE
