Thrilling Weekend at The Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival

Tuesday 19 June 2018

The Vintage Sports-Car Club enjoyed a thrilling weekend at The Brooklands Double Twelve this weekend.  The Sprint on Saturday was hotly contested, the Double Twelve Concours was oozing elegance on Saturday and Sunday, and the Brooklands Double Twelve Driving Tests on Sunday was thrilling.
Round 3 of the VSCC Speed Championship proved to be hotly contested, Terry Crabb was back with a vengeance taking home the Fastest Time of the Day in his 1937 ERA R12C in a time of 42.61 seconds. Bo Williams triumphed in his 1926 Bugatti Type 35B winning the Fastest Vintage in 46.11 seconds with Robin Gale once again proving he is the Fastest Young Driver with his 1934 Riley Special in a time of 48.87 seconds.

The Speed Championship next heads to the 'jewel in the crown' Event, Prescott Speed Hill Climb on 4 and 5 August. The Vintage Sports-Car Club’s next event sees the return of Formula Vintage for the Vintage Festival at Donington Park on 24 June marking the 80th anniversary of our first stand-alone Race Meeting held by the Club. This Event will also feature a Park & Parade, and a fantastic Public Grid Walk where cars with genuine Donington Park history - including Barry Foster's MG Q-Type which was raced by Dorothy Stanley-Turner in the Nuffield Trophy Race at Donington in 1937 - will be available to view, before these wonderful cars complete a Parade Lap of the track. Opposite the newly refurbished Garage 39 Restaurant there will also be a chance to view the historic cars which will be on display.
