Cheshire (Autumn) Rally and Cotswold Trial UPDATE

Friday 18 September 2020

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Cheshire (Autumn) Rally
Clerk of the Course Martin Jelley and his team have been working hard under very challenging circumstances to put on this Rally. Much work was undertaken to make it Covid 19 safe and compliant, which initially meant that a complete change of type of event and timing.  With a very positive response from members, an entry of over 56 cars with the prospect of a reserve list, every effort has been made to stage it.  However, the latest instruction from the UK government and the increased incidence of cases in the local area meant that the only responsible decision is to cancel the Rally.

Cotswold Trial
Annie Scaldwell and her team have also been working hard to put on this popular event, with plans in place to avoid any road mileage and a reduced entry to make it Covid 19 safe and compliant whilst still running a worthwhile and competitive event.  They were particularly aware of the spike in local cases after the Cheltenham Festival, and wanted to maintain the Club’s good name among the locals, and so, following the announcement of the latest restrictions, reluctantly decided that the only responsible decision is to cancel the Trial.

The Club relies on local volunteers to run many of its events, people who live in the areas where they take place.  In these exceptional times, we have to be guided by their understanding of the local mood, so we fully support Martin’s and Annie’s decisions to cancel these events.  We are sorry for the many members who were looking forward to taking part, either as competitors or marshals, but hope they will understand that the personal wellbeing of members and locals has to take priority.  We remain hopeful of running the remaining events in the year, but will obviously be monitoring the situation.
