To this year’s Classic Motor Show, NEC

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at Birmingham’s NEC is always one of the most eagerly anticipated weekends in the motoring calendar, drawing thousands of enthusiasts from across the country to celebrate every corner of the classic car world. For the Vintage Sports-Car Club, it has become an annual tradition to take part, not only as a chance to show off the wonderful cars that form the backbone of our community, but also to tell the story of what makes the Club unique. This November we will once again be there, proudly presenting our stand in Hall 1, and we cannot wait to welcome visitors.

This year, the Classic Motor Show has set the theme of “The Best of Both Worlds.” For us, that phrase could not be more apt. Our Club has always been about balance - between the competitive and the social, the mud and the polish, the adrenaline of motorsport and the elegance of concours. Our calendar is as diverse as it is exciting. In the depths of winter, Trials competitors take their Pre-War machines through muddy banks and slippery lanes, revelling in the challenge of keeping momentum alive where modern cars would falter. Come the summer, the lawns of Madresfield provide a very different backdrop, as beautifully presented cars line the driveway while the Driving Tests unfold against the stately setting. In between, there are Sprints, Hill Climbs, Race Meetings, Rallies, Tours, and social gatherings, each catering to a different appetite yet united by a common spirit.

For some, the thrill lies in the adventure, testing both car and driver in the heat of competition. For others, it is about the atmosphere, the friendships, and the simple joy of being around these remarkable machines. Many find satisfaction in giving back, whether by marshalling, organising, or simply spectating and soaking up the paddock buzz. The VSCC is proud to offer something for everyone, ensuring that every member can truly enjoy the best of both worlds.
