The Volunteers Behind the VSCC
Wednesday 01 July 2026
From marshals and organisers to Eligibility specialists and event officials, volunteers play a vital role in almost everything the VSCC does.
Every VSCC event depends upon volunteers.
Whether they are marshalling a trial section, organising a rally route, inspecting an eligible vehicle, staffing a control point or helping competitors at an event, volunteers make an enormous contribution to the Club.
Their involvement extends far beyond event day.
Across the Club, volunteers contribute specialist expertise in areas including eligibility, archives, governance, competitions, licensing, technical advice and event planning. Historic records show the scale of that contribution stretching back decades.
The strength of the VSCC has always been its combination of enthusiasm and expertise.
Many volunteers bring decades of knowledge about individual marques, competition history and vehicle preservation. Others contribute organisational skills that help events run smoothly and safely.
The Club's 2026 member survey highlighted that members value not only events and cars, but also the community, knowledge and sense of belonging that the VSCC provides.
That community exists because volunteers continue to give their time, energy and expertise.
The next time you attend a VSCC event, there is a good chance that many of the people making it happen are fellow enthusiasts who simply care about preserving and promoting historic motoring.
