Wednesday 05 August 2026

Record-breaking performances, spectacular machinery and the public return of the 1926 Thomas Flatiron helped make Vintage Prescott 2026 another exceptional celebration of historic motorsport. The weekend also highlighted the VSCC's commitment to encouraging new competitors and preserving engineering heritage.

Vintage Prescott once again demonstrated why it remains one of the highlights of the historic motorsport calendar, bringing together outstanding competition, remarkable machinery and the unique atmosphere that has made the event a favourite with competitors and spectators alike.

Held at the famous Prescott Hill Climb, this year's event combined record-breaking performances with heritage displays, family attractions and opportunities for newcomers to experience vintage motorsport for the first time.

One of the major talking points of the weekend was the remarkable performance of an invited Alfa Romeo, which eclipsed the long-standing Class 6 record. While invited competitors are not eligible to claim official class records, the achievement was nevertheless an impressive demonstration of performance and one of the standout moments of the event.

The Alfa Romeo theme attracted a superb gathering of cars to Prescott, with visitors enjoying one of the finest collections of the marque seen at the venue in recent years. Alongside competition machinery on the hill, a stunning display in the Orchard showcased the breadth and heritage of the famous Italian manufacturer.

Another highlight came when Geraint Owen's beautifully restored 1926 Thomas "Flatiron" Grand Prix Car made its long-awaited return to Prescott during Saturday's parade. Unveiled to the public for the first time, the unique machine quickly became a crowd favourite as its unmistakable sound echoed around the hill.

Competition remained fierce throughout the weekend. Mark Chandler set a new Class 8 benchmark in his Riley Brooklands, taking the record by the narrowest of margins and eclipsing a long-standing mark by just 0.01 seconds.

At the sharp end of the leaderboard, Ben Fidler secured Fastest Time of the Day aboard ERA R4D, narrowly ahead of Nick Topliss in ERA R4A and Ian Baxter in the Alta. Robin Tuluie once again demonstrated the pace of the Menasco Pirate to claim Fastest Vintage, while Ed Burgess collected the prestigious Peter Hampton Tankard for the best Bugatti performance.

Young competitors continued to make their mark on the event. Theo Hunt enjoyed a particularly successful weekend, claiming Fastest Young Driver, Fastest Sports Car and a new Class 10 record. Elsewhere, strong performances from Will Marsh, Harry Baxter and Oli Chilton underlined the depth of emerging talent within historic motorsport.

The weekend also reflected the Club's commitment to supporting the next generation of competitors. Thanks to the support of the HRG Association, novice hill climbers Emily Martin and Zoe Duffin received sponsored entries and both left Prescott eager to return to competition in the future.

Away from the hill, visitors were able to enjoy free admission to the Bugatti Trust throughout the weekend. The Trust's renowned collection was complemented by drawing workshops led by Stefan Marjoram, working Meccano displays created by Terry Allen and demonstrations from Heritage Skills Academy apprentices, showcasing traditional coachbuilding and restoration skills.

A newly designed Trade Village was warmly received by visitors and competitors, while the event's limited-edition programme artwork T-shirts proved so popular that they sold out during the weekend.

From record-breaking runs and iconic machinery to heritage displays and new competitors discovering the sport for the first time, Vintage Prescott 2026 successfully captured everything that makes the Vintage Sports-Car Club unique.

The weekend celebrated not only the cars that define the Club, but also the people, skills and enthusiasm that continue to ensure historic motorsport remains vibrant for future generations.
