Vintage Sports-Car Club 2013 Public Event Dates Confirmed

Friday 21 December 2012

The VSCC are pleased to announce their 2013 events calendar, which sees over 43  activities scheduled for the Club’s 79th year.  From circuit racing, to off-road trials and driving tests the Vintage Sports-Car Club compiles the most far-reaching calendar of events spanning more of the sporting disciplines than any other motoring club.  VSCC events can be enjoyed by Club members and the general public.
2013 gets underway with the annual Measham Rally, still regarded by many as one of the ultimate challenges of Pre-war car and driver, on Saturday 12 January with crews finishing in the morning light of Sunday 13 January after a gruelling over-night drive.

The first public event, and race meeting of the season, is the ‘Spring Start’ Race Meeting at Silverstone on 20-21 April.  Regarded as the traditional season opener of the Vintage and Historic Motorsport World this event has been expanded to a two-day event and the Sunday will be broadcast live on Motors TV.

Racing then visits  Cadwell Park  (Lincolnshire) on Saturday 8 June, Mallory Park (Leicestershire) on Sunday 21 July and Pembrey (Carmarthenshire) on Sunday 18 August. After the success of the inaugural VSCC race meeting at Snetterton last September, the Club returns on Sunday 29 September for the Historic Seaman Trophies Race Meeting.

VSCC Hill climbs are regarded by many as the mainstay of the Club, never fading in popularity. Idyllic venues are visited up and down the country and at each well supported entries of superb Vintage and Historic cars impress the crowds.  The first Spring hill climb is at Wiscombe Park in Devon on Sunday 12 May followed by Harewood in North Yorkshire on Saturday 1 June (VSCC classes run within a BARC event).  Vauxhall 30-98s celebrate their centenary year in 2013, and they will dominate Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in Worcestershire on Sunday 7 July (VSCC classes run within a MAC event), and the pinnacle of the Club’s competition year, Prescott will be run on the traditional first weekend in August (3-4) at the Gloucestershire venue.  A visit to Loton Park in Shropshire completes the hill climb season on 14-15 September.

The Club is proud to be working alongside the team at Brooklands once more and the Double Twelve Motorsport Festival is now firmly stating its claim as one of the key motor sport events of the summer.  The Club will hold a Sprint event on the Mercedes Benz World Handling Circuit on Saturday 15 June alongside the Driving Tests and Concours event that complete the ‘Double Twelve’ weekend in Surrey.  Other Sprints will be held at Curborough, Staffordshire (Sunday 5 May), Pembrey, Carmarthenshire (as part of the Pembrey Race Meeting on the weekend of 17-18 August).  The Sprint season closes with the popular visit to Goodwood on Saturday 26 October.
Spectators are welcome to attend any of the Club’s Race, Hill Climb and Sprint events.  The VSCC’s 7,500 Club members can also enjoy a full programme of off-road Trials, Navigational Rallies, Driving Tests, Tours and Pub Meets.  Club events are held nearly every weekend so there is much opportunity to get involved as a spectator, marshal or competitor.
