VSCC Cadwell Park – Coming This Weekend!

Tuesday 19 July 2016

Our celebrated Shuttleworth & Nuffield Trophies Meeting is just over a week away, taking place on Sunday 24 July at Cadwell Park - advance ticket sales close at the end of day today (Tuesday) so don't miss out!
This year’s event marks a very special anniversary for the Club, as we celebrate 40 years since the Club’s first meeting at the celebrated Lincolnshire venue on 29 August 1976, since when the event has become one of the most popular events on the calendar.

Known as the UK’s very own 2.2 mile ‘Nurburgring’, Cadwell’s wonderful blend of twists and undulations is more often seen as a biker’s playground but nonetheless have proved ideally suited to our Pre-war and Historic Racing and Sports-Cars and a favourite amongst drivers and spectators through the years – the Club’s annual status as one of the circuit’s largest attendance for a car event can certainly attest to that.

Above all, it is the Lincolnshire venue’s unparalleled combination of fantastic track, idyllic setting and relaxed Paddock that continues to bring the VSCC and its racers back every year – Club motorsport as it should be!

The Club’s Shuttleworth & Nuffield Trophies collection provides the mainstay of the day’s programme. Vintage Racing Cars (Set 1) will contest the John Holland Trophy Race; first competed for in 1966, the race has headlined our events at Cadwell since our very first visit and is sure to be another epic with our current entertaining band of Vintage racers.

The Shuttleworth, Nuffield & Len Thompson Memorial Trophies Race will again accommodate our Pre-1961 Racing Cars (Set 2) in another stunning title Pre- and Post-war gathering, with a trio of the Club’s prestigious silverware on offer.

The Geoghegan Trophy Race is sure to attract another full grid of Standard & Modified Pre-war Sports-Cars (Set 3), with the named trophy awarded to the top under 1.5 litre Pre-1931 Vintage finisher, whilst the Special Pre-war Sports-Cars (set 4) will contest the Melville Trophy Race, another event boasting almost 50 years of history.

As ever, Pre-war fans will also enjoy full grids competing in the ever-popular All-Comers Pre-war Short Scratch (Set 5) and Handicap (Set 6) formats.

Long-associated with our Cadwell Park meetings, the Spero & Voiturette Trophies Race will see the Club’s smaller capacity cars take centre stage, with Pre-war Racing and Sports-Cars up to 1100cc eligible for one of the VSCC’s most prestigious and historic competitions.

The VSCC 2016 Race Season will also see a host of invited grids as part of each of our race days, with a number of celebrated Clubs and Series scheduled to take part, with our Cadwell event being no exception. We are honoured to once again host the Bugatti Owners’ Club’s esteemed Williams Trophy for Pre-1935 2-seater Grand Prix Cars, with the very trophy given to Grover Williams following his victory in the first Monaco Grand Prix in 1929 bestowed upon the winner.

A full grid is expected for the annual Race for Frazer Nash & GN Cars, who always have a strong showing across the entry at Cadwell, whilst MGs and Austin 7s in both Racing and Sports-Car guises will do battle in the Triple-M Register v Austin Challenge.

We also look forward to welcoming our friends at the 500 OA for another Race for F3 (500) Racing Cars, always a popular addition to the Paddock, whilst Classic Formula Fords will provide an eclectic complement to the day’s proceedings (the latter to enter directly with the Series organisers).
