EVENTS UPDATE

Friday 19 March 2021

Since we opened all our Speed Events for entry last Friday entries have been flooding in and Curborough in particular is almost fully subscribed. It is wonderful to see that our Competitors are as keen as we are to return to Motorsport activities; it’s been a very long year for all of us. We would urge all competitors to submit their entries for the Speed events as soon as possible.

Important information is detailed below.

Spring Start Race Meeting, Silverstone 17th April
This will be held behind closed doors, with no spectators, and only Competitors, Crew, Marshals and Officials are able to attend. The current situation is that only people with self-contained accommodation, eg motorhomes or caravans with lavatory facilities may stay overnight at the circuit.

Curborough Sprint 2nd May
As you are aware, our Curborough Sprint will also be held behind closed doors, with no spectators, and only Competitors, Crew, Marshals and Officials able to attend. Not Covid related – but still important information and a change from previous years is that owing to ongoing issues regarding complaints about noise, Curborough Sprint Course is now NOT allowing any tyre warming anywhere on the circuit and particularly in the start area.

Wiscombe Hill Climb 9th May
Wiscombe Hill Climb will also be held behind closed doors, with no spectators, and only Competitors, crew, Marshals and Officials able to attend. There will be full Covid-19 and Track and Trace rules in place.

Camping is permitted – caravans and campers in the Top Paddock – tents and car trailers in the Spectator Paddock – entry via Top Paddock only (not spectator one) and toilet facilities will be available to those staying overnight.

As most Pubs and Hotels will still be closed (except for some takeaways) the Wiscombe caterers, has generously agreed to provide evening meals on Saturday evening from 6pm until 8pm from his unit in the Bottom Paddock on a takeaway basis. No pre-ordering is required,  you just turn up between 6pm and 8pm, and you will be served with a minimum of delay.  The meal can be eaten at the tables and marquee in the Bottom Paddock or taken back to your pitch in the Top Paddock. Covid-19 social distancing guidelines will be in place, with only 6 at a table etc This is the link to the menu Wiscombe Menu. He will also open by 7am for breakfasts on Sunday morning.

MSUK GETTING BACK ON TRACK GUIDELINES

Members who did manage to compete at events in the second half of last year had to familiarise themselves with new procedures leading up to the actual event and at the venue itself. Ahead of the scheduled race and speed events restarting in April and May we confirm the following important information.

  • Signing-on for Competitors, Marshals and Officials will be done in advance and electronically.
  • Scrutineering will not take place for all cars, entrants will make a self-declaration in advance regarding the car entered and their safety equipment (helmet, overalls, etc.). Approximately 20% of cars entered will have a visual check at the event.
  • Transponders will still be available at race events; their collection and return will be carried out in a covid secure manner.
  • Competition numbers and other MSUK required stickers WILL NOT be available. These can be purchased through www.demon-tweeks.com or tridentracing.co.uk
  • Competitors will receive a maximum of 3 additional entry tickets for essential helpers only, the contact details of each person receiving a ticket must be notified in advance to the office.
  • Spectators will not be permitted at any events in April and May.
  • All practice times, run times and race results will not be printed, they will need to be viewed via a smart phone, tablet, etc.
  • Events will have appointed Covid-19 Officers who report directly to the Clerk of the Course and MSUK Steward.
  • Social distancing measures will be in place and individual event instructions will be notified to Competitors, Marshals and Officials with their normal documentation.

We will keep all of our Competitors, Marshals, Officials and Club supporters updated as we get closer to the events themselves.
