Full Speed Ahead for the VSCC Trials Season 2016

Wednesday 19 October 2016

Following the success of our recent Welsh Weekend, we would like to remind Members that entries are still open for the Club’s two remaining Trials of 2016 – the Lakes (5 November) and Cotswolds (19 November).
LAKELAND TRIAL, KESWICK & AREA, CUMBRIA, SATURDAY 5 NOVEMBER

The Club’s Winter Trials season continues with the annual pilgrimage north to the picturesque surroundings of the Lake District, covering a wide area of the Mid-Lakes from Honister Slate Mine in the south to Beck Wythop Forest in the north still based at the Wheatsheaf in Low Lorton not far away from Keswick.

Due to ongoing harvesting there are a number of changes this year with a new forest added. The same single venue for signing-on and scrutineering for all competitors as last year will used: the Whinlatter Visitor Centre. The organising team of Alan Couper, John Gill and Allan Dunn are setting-up a challenging series of hill sections for what will surely prove to be a thrilling day of motorsport. The infamous Drumhouse remains the central feature of the Trial with its twisting climb to the summit and the thrill of achieving the top successfully is a reward for the day’s efforts.

Spectating will be limited to Drumhouse due to ongoing harvesting at Hobcarton and imminent harvesting at Whinlatter.

Do not miss the chance to participate in one of the Club’s most historic and well-loved events – the maximum entry the Forestry Commission allow is 100 so enter soon to avoid disappointment.

Entry Fee: £90                     Closing Date for Entries: Monday 24 October

COTSWOLD TRIAL, PRESCOTT, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, SATURDAY 19 NOVEMBER

Although the Cotswold Trial is not as longstanding as some of our other dates in the calendar, it has, nevertheless, firmly established itself as the fitting finale to the Trials season. Event headquarters will once again be based at Prescott, where the crowds will gather to watch four of the day’s competitive sections in the grounds of the famous Hill Climb venue and will doubtless share in the traditional end of year celebrations.

Derek Howard-Orchard and Tim Milvain will take control for a 7th year and have a wonderful collection of sections to test both car and driver in the surrounding Gloucestershire countryside. There’s a varied mix of challenges for both the novice and expert, so ensure you submit your entry in good time to avoid missing the last Trial of 2016!

The Spectator area for the Trial will be at Prescott. Prescott Clubhouse will be open throughout the day providing breakfast, lunches and hot and cold drinks. There will be a charge per car to cover costs which will include an event programme.
